If you are kneeling on the ground pretending to eat food while saying "NUMMY, NUMMY, NUMMY", it probably won't be long before some nice people in white coats show up to take you away to a quiet place.

Actually with our mental health system, it would take a whole lot more than that. I went to the University of Denver Graduate School of Librarianship and Information Management in 1983-1984. There was a woman in the MA or PhD program -- probably PH.D program-- who required that she always have a seat next to her open because of her invisible friend. All us other students just gave her a wide berth so to speak and that extra seat.

While on the other hand, my immediate supervisor questioned my mental health while I was at the University of Minnesota Law Library over 9 months in 1991 because I wanted to be honest with POTENTIAL employers-- in the future-- about my desire and more importantly the basis of this to see more practical materials in law libraries for survivors/victims of crimes.

Politics played a part in both these stories. The woman at DU had rights. I had rights too at the U of MN Law Library/School but these were trumped by the normal way of doing things. This was to require defendants to get lawyers and have the State argue for the victim/witness and keeping the victim/survivors' voices rather mute. You want it stronger you give them access to the best information possible.

Just a little aside about your joke about mental illness.
