My cats eat cat food 99% of the time. Occasionally they will eat a little chicken, cheese or beef, but don't care for human fish, shrimp, etc.

We have two very picky boy kitty rescues. We have loved one for 17 years and the other for almost three. They turn up their noses at most people food except for teriyaki chicken. We do give them canned Tuna every day and although the vet says it has too much salt, they seem to be alright.

I found out Dr. Brown had her own practice and knew she had to be less expensive than the Maitland office's fee so yes -- I traveled to her own office to have the extractions done on both cats. The Maitland office, like Buffalo Ridge, is owned by a non-veterinarian. Those offices have a manager because the owner is an in-absentia owner.

I did make a mistake. Dr. Brown's own office is in West Palm Beach, not Boca. I wouldn't hesitate to take my dog or cat to her again if I had a serious dental issue with one of my pets. (Your Pet Dentist | Veterinarians West Palm Beach, Florida | Advanced Veterinary Dental Surgery

The vet you like at Maitland might be a permanent staff vet or possibly, like Dr. Brown, could have her/his own practice elsewhere. It wouldn't hurt to (privately) ask.

I knew that AVS has an absentee, non-vet owner, and it always bothered me. I would not go back there for orthopedics, but my dog would happily abandon us and go home with Dr. Schwassmann, the derm vet. He sees her every year, sometimes more if odd events happen here and there. He's been skin-allergy-free for 7 years thanks to her.

We had a great experience yesterday at Buffalo Ridge. Dr. Sexton did his procedure and he called me after his initial exam and again when Malkie was done. His issues were not as serious as they feared they might be. He was able to save all four of his canines. The worst part was trying to explain to Malkie why he couldn't eat from the time we got home at 4 pm until 6. :) (Dr's orders). He seemed fine last night and you wouldn't have known he had been anesthetized a few hours earlier.

Thanks for all the info about the other facilities. I will keep it in mind if Malkie develops more serious issues.

k.

I love a happy ending. Cheers to Malkie! And to you... He's a lucky cat to have found you.
