I believe BadgerTracks dog to be a Great Pyrenees or similar dog (sure looks like a Pyr to me). I got my first pyr when I was 20. Have had pyrs for years and loved those fuzzy faces. Their beauty saved them for sure since they are not an easy dog to own. More like they own you. Here is a picture of my last boy, Mellow, that I lost last fall. He was a spectacular dog and we miss him very much. Now it's just the hounds.

Gorgeous. Both of you!

It's not fair to the dog. Our property is to small

Gerryann pointed out that Golf2140 is probably just speaking for himself.

I do believe that if you're physically active, there is no problem having a large dog. We love our 70 lb dog and she gets lots of exercise. If you are willing to put in the time, there are options. Your property may be small. However if you take your dog to the dog park every day, your dog will get plenty of exercise and be able to play off leash and socialize! Many people take their dogs for long walks, it's good for the dog and also for their humans.

Dogs of every size are welcome in The Villages.

Hogwash! Tell that to my 88-lb golden, who is perfectly happy in our 2000 square foot house, happy with his walks, his romps across the backyard chasing a tennis ball, and the dog park.

Maybe golf2140 feels HIS property is too small. If he has a 1100 sq ft and does not or is not able to put forth the needs of a large dog, then it would be a bad choice for HIM. He probably didn't mean that we all have properties that are too small. Dogs do need exercise and I'm sure that everyone who is lucky enough to share their life with a pup, gives them the space they need. My pup is a big dog disguised in a little cockapoo body.

I don't know who named this area a "dog park."
I would tell you to not even bother but I guess everyone has to find out for themselves.
The place is beyond a disaster, it's so bad.
The closest thing I would call it is the dog run on a hill.
The hill doesn't go up and down either; it goes sideways and is maybe -- about 15 ft. wide!

I don't see ANY Beagle in that photo at all.
I see yellow Lab and German Shepherd.

I agree, it's a sad excuse for a dog park. Twice when we've been in the area in the afternoon, we stopped at the Bonita dog park, and it's been locked!! Because the dog park is situated on a hill, it's very hard to navigate for anyone with hip or knee problems. Thank heavens for the private dog park on CR 101.

The tiny Bonita dog park is supposed to be adequate for the thousands of dogs that live south of CR 466, including the new areas south of CR 466A! I'm not a fan of walking dogs at postal stations, but I do understand why people do it.

I see a beagle head and the coloring of a two-color brown & tan beagle I used to know.

But it was supposed to be an amusing response to BarryR not wanting to imagine what a beagle would mate with to produce a large breed dog.

Thank you for your very nice compliment!

The avatar features a Great Pyrenees we had for 12 & 1/2 years.

Your dog is certainly beautiful!

If I Remember Correctly

When the dog park was approved, the Responsible Dog Owners Group insisted they would provide adequate volunteers to staff and police the park. Never happened. People did not participate. Complaints piled up. The amenity fee does not cover everything you expected in this heaven.
