Angry A little Respect Goes a Long Way

No Respect!

This is for the family or families living in Springdale..... the Villas at the right after going through the gate...your dogs bark constantly..day and night... cannot believe you allow it. Shouldn't you have a little more respect for your neighbors? Shame on you! Wow and you call yourself a friendly Villager.

Interesting first post.

Have you tried to contact the owners?

Called Community Watch?

Is this a long term problem or recent? Perhaps something is wrong, residents are hurt? What's bothering the dogs - is there a worker in the area? New dog next door?

I'm temporarily staying in Fairlawn and don't hear anything like that, including from my own dog. The neighbor dog next door was barking last week in the middle of the night and like a previous poster mentioned, concern was the 1st thought. I spoke to them the next day and haven't heard anything at night since. Maybe you should address this with the owner?

just wondering - how much respect have you shown that owner/those owners before blasting them on this forum?

If you don't want to approach them, put a note on their door. They may not know that their dog barks the entire time they are away from the house.

I don't think that our dogs bark when home alone, but have told the neighbors that I will never know for sure unless they tell me.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you will stay and have happier things to post.

I am sorry the dogs barking are annoying you. It would me too.

Has it been going on for a long time?

Are you against the villa wall or in the villa neighborhood? I mean do you know from which home the noise is coming ? I think we have a noise ordinance in TV but I agree that telling them or leaving a note would be a good place to start if you knew where the barking was happening. If that doesn't work than telling the authorities would be the next level. I am sure that others are hearing this too. Do you know if anyone else has complained?

Good luck in solving this problem.

Regardless of whether this is your first post or your 5,000th post, this is the place to talk and air your concerns. We welcome you to Talk of The Villages and hope that the people you are referring to read this forum. Perhaps your post will resolve your problem.

If the dogs bark day and night, the owners surely are aware of the problem but perhaps are immune to the sound.

What have they said when you approach them about it? I also understand your hesitation to approach a stranger about a problem. It can lead to real problems sometimes.

You've come to the right place.

Thank you, Talk Host for saying this. The first few posts immediately assumed that the dog owners were considerate and responsible, while the messenger (whom they shot immediately) was the disrespectful villain.

When dogs are "allowed to" bark "day and night", and the owners do not stop it, a person gets fed up. To me, the first post said clearly, "I've HAD it!!!"

This board is supposed to be realistic and truthful information of use to residents and future ones, NOT some storybook fantasy where you have to pretend to be a grinning PollyAnna.

the street you are complaining about is Gaylark Avenue, I have family who live there and they say that there is the odd dog bark....but nothing to complain about!

This is true. I like my pollyanna friends a lot because they don't make excuses for an obvious wrongdoer or enabler of wrongdoing.

There's a reason the thread "marginalizing other peoples' viewpoints" grew to be lengthy. Some people can post things like scathing reviews of a contractor or other service provider (as Talk Host did today about the lousy pool installation), or a newbie can post his valid anger over delays in his mortgage process and say he is former law enforcement and can ___ with people in ways unheard of, and can be "the vilest" if not treated right . . but in these two and other examples, they are not vilified and termed "disrespectful" for posting their complaint. But then, they are men.

As is the case in many places in our society, when women state a complaint in no uncertain terms, they are treated like a witch with a "b", but when men do the same thing, their complaint is validated with continued conversation/input!

Just stating what I see . . .
