Male Bishon Needs Home Fast
ATTENTION ALL DOGGIE LOVERS!!!
We have a wonderful little male Bishon doggie that is about 8 or 9 years old named Toby. Toby has lost both his "Mom" and "Dad" over the last 1 1/2 years. Dad was found dead last week and the poor little guy went without food or water for approximately 3 days. The "Father's" Son is here from Colorado until Sunday and will take the dog back with him if necessary (he promised Mom he would take care of the dog if something happened to both of them). The problem is the Son has a large Labradoodle at home and two children 1 1/2 and 3 years old! Ouch!!! The Son would very much prefer to find a good home for Toby here in The Villages if possible. The problem seems to be one of timing. I am sure if we had 2 weeks, finding a home for Toby would be no problem, but the Son must leave Sunday. PLEASE SEARCH THROUGH YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS to see if you can come up with a suitable adoptive Mom or Dad for poor little Toby. UPDATE 10/18/10 : The family has agreed to take Toby back to Colorado per RDOG2. Last edited by F16 1UB; 10-18-2010 at 11:41 AM. Reason: Update 10/18/10 |

Bichon Frise size
Gracie,
Bichons are small to small-medium sized dogs & the ones I've known have been super friendly & lovable. They're fluffy white with soulful brown eyes. I have a dog-hating cat or I'd take him myself! |

The information about the dog was obtained from an RDOG2 e-mail I received. Sorry I know nothing more about the dog than what I received and posted. Lets hope he finds a home soon.

Bichon (Bichon Frisee - pronounced Freeze-zay)
My experience with these dogs is that they are very people oriented and make great companions, and they are quite smart! They are also great for people who have allergies, because they do not shed. Be forwarned that they will need to be groomed every 6 weeks because their hair is very curly similar to a poodle, and the owner must also brush this dog between professional groomings.

I called Tom yesterday upon reading the thread. Told him that we would take Toby and give him a loving home here in TV. He must have become attached to Toby as he told me that he would probably take Toby back to CO with him. He also said that if he changes his mind, he will call me. Since he's leaving tomorrow and I haven't heard from him, I gather that he's decided to keep Toby.
Still hoping.....barb

Barb, don't know if you like cats, but I have a very loving and affectionate boy that is looking for a home. He is neutered, declawed, has great litterbox habits, and will eat anything. His name is Disco. If you take him and things just don't work out, we will take him back.

He stole my heart too, Barb! I'm already at my limit for animals, or I would have wanted him, too!

I know that "Villagers" love animals----I see evidence of this every time I leave my home----those being walked--those in golf carts, etc, etc. My husband and I love animals and have had lots of "history" with dogs. We even took in a "stray" that was obviously dumped in our neighborhood---the "story" turned out well---we kept him for four days and had him picked up by "dog" control but he had already been chosen by a family that picked him up through the proper channels--after he had been neutered, chipped, etc. This was actually accomplished by Responsible Dog Owner's chapter here in The Villages. I am glad that this sweet dog is being kept by someone who loves him and realizes how important he was to the parents, but I also know had had he not chosen to take him that he would have been taken in by a loving family here in The Villages.

I do hope that Toby copes well with the labradoodle and small children, after being used to a quiet household.
I'm glad we have a happy ending to the story. Barb, that has really nice of you to offer to adopt Toby.

If the resident was found dead and the dog went without water and food for three days, does this mean the resident was also in the home with his dog for those three days (dead)? Didn’t anyone notice his absence? If the man was found dead (perhaps in his yard) and then taken away, wouldn’t anyone on the street know that there was a dog still alone in the home and needed care? Most dogs will bark if they need water or food.....didn’t any neighbors hear him? I’m such a dog lover that it’s always upsetting to me whenever I read of animal neglect, but I would not expect to hear of something like this in TV. Like everyone else, I hope his future home will work out for the little guy. Annabelle |
