yoda,

please THINK before you post!!!!!

there are many animal lovers in The villages and this appeared to be a very unkind post.

P.S. We wouldn't have all these problems if we just banned all pets from TV.

...and some people.....amen!

Is there a job-opening on TOTV for a bouncer?

There was a time on TOTV when hateful, hurtful posts got bounced. Now, I see them hang there and hang there and hang there. This is not the first time recently.

The tone of TOTV is changing. Insidious -- maybe. But it's there.

The admins set the tone for the forum. I wonder if our ringmaster sees these things as bait for more hits.

If so -- too bad...so sad. TOTV has always managed to set itself apart by not allowing open-season.

I agree Boomer the tone has changed and not for the better.

I think you are right it is all about business and unfortunately the post that have a negative or confrontational tone seem to attract more attention.

I agree Ladies, thank you. I'm sad that the tone has changed so drastically and that some posters are just let off with an apology that isn't very sincere, in my opinion.

Agreed

I agree with nONIE, Shirleevee, Boomer, Halle and KathieI. -- Kinda' feels like the neighborhood is changing...in not a good way. That's always sad.

I think it goes in streaks. Right now, we seem to be in an ugly streak again -- more anger, more vitriol, just more .... Hopefully, it will change to what it was once again -- a warm, loving place to find about TV, to vent a little, to joke around a bit, but not a place for name calling or finger pointing.

(Personally, I think Yoda tried to make a joke that seriously backfired. Yoda was chastised. Let's try to go back to the old way, which let bad behavior drop once the nature of the beast was shown.)

In the meantime, Kathie, how are you doing now that the initial shock and anger are gone? (Mind you, I said "initial," not all.) Hugs, hon!

graciegirl 12-11-2010 07:43 PM

This is very troubling Kathie.

Was the hole in your screen to the back...so someone would have shot from across the pond?

I don't know anything about bb guns , about how far away a shot carries.

I would call the cops if I were you.

Kathie, so sorry to hear about Sam's troubles. Hurting a vulnerable animal is the lowest form of cowardice.

Yoda, I hope you were speaking in jest. :ohdear:

Pturner 12-11-2010 08:18 PM

KathieI

I'm upset and outraged! What was done to you and Sam, was done to all of us. I am so, so sorry.

thank you red. (I make it into more trouble for this .) I will admit that I did attempt some humor and obviously it wasn't taken as being very humorous. I wasn't trying to be funny was trying to change the direction of the post. Not hijack it, just changes direction.

As I said before I feel very badly for the pet. And I feel badly for Kathy. And it took me a couple of pages before I made the comment. I was watching the way to the host was going and I tried to lighten it up. My bad, I guess.

And the first assumption was that "there is a hater in TV and we must watch out for him/her."

Next we have a Inch hole in the screen.

Next, called the sheriff?

Next we mention the guns.

Next, someone may be lurking to shoot defenseless animals watch out for your neighbor peace of mind has been violated.

Next we are convinced that someone shot the dog while in the Lani.

Next hole in the screen is evidence.

At this point there are only two pages of posts and I'm sure you can see the direction that it's going in. That's when I tried to insert a little levity and try to change the direction. Mea culpa mea culpa.

Could somebody have shot the pet? Sure. I going to look through the hole on the screen and wonder if it was your neighbor who might happen to line up with the hole who shot the puppy? Do you think that perhaps it was a ghetto style drive-by shooting?

I assure you if there was a half-inch hole in the screen and air gun pellet, BB or a real bullet fired from a gun would not have left a half-inch hole.

Based on my experience what an All probability happened was that the pellet was picked up by a lawn mower. I think you'll find this is a very common type accident here in the villages with all the landscaping that goes on.

I probably should have just shut up and let you post continue on to its ultimate conclusion of a conspiracy of frustrated dog nappers and everybody walking their pets in their bedrooms.

Sorry for the joke. Sorry for the comments. Continue on.

Sparky-30 12-12-2010 05:26 AM

Just wondering, is it possible your dog was on the lanai when grass cutting was going on and and the mower could have picked up a small stone like object throwing it thru the screen into the dog?

Yoda

Makes sense to me. I knew you had to be kidding, Yoda.

We grown up folks have tooooooo much time on our hands.:):):)

redwitch 12-12-2010 06:40 AM

I hadn't thought of the cutters and projectiles, but it really does make sense. I've seen what some of those small (and I do mean small!!!) pebbles can do to a lanai enclosure (glass or screen). I certainly prefer this theory to someone deliberately shooting Sam and it makes a lot more sense.

Taltarzac 12-12-2010 07:35 AM

One the theory of lawn mowers and projectiles--

A pellet would probably have a rather unique shape in an x-ray though if that is how the vet treated Sam. http://www.pyramydair.com/site/articles/calibers/

I would also hope that the vet would take out something that could be quite dirty and cause an infection too.

I just saw Yoda's post as an ill advised attempt at levity.

BernieJr 12-12-2010 11:27 AM

Hi, I am just wondering why you exzonarated your nieghbors and blame a contractor? It would be easier for an nieghbor to commit this horrible act than it would be for a contractors employee to be walking around the Villages with a pellet gun looking for a target. Does your Lania back up to houses for easy access to nieghbors or a street where anyone driving by could have taken a shot? I feel for you but you should investigate all possibilities before singling out anyone.

I was not trying to exonerate anything. I was just trying to head off a self generating fear campaign. Thats how they start.

Bark, Bark, Bark.....

:mademyday: Once upon a time we had a neighbor whose dog would bark every time he left and would continue to bark until he returned , the neighborhood was ready to draw straws to see who would shoot the dog,,,,To try to calm the situation I volunteered to go and talk to the neighbor ..... It worked and calm returned to our neighborhood ....about a week later I was informed that the owner had put the dog down !!!!! I vowed that I would never confront a neighbor about his animal again , Its easier to just sit and bitch about it..
MUCH EASIER.......

Besides you may not be looking at this incident from the right prospective, This in fact may be a bungled attempted suicide (could be ).....

anyone who thinks that their doggie is smarter than they are is probably right.............

My Dog Has A Bullet In Him

could be a title of a country tune.

redwitch 12-12-2010 05:22 PM

Bernie, I don't think Yoda was saying a contractor tried to shoot the dog but rather that a lawnmower hit something or maybe even a bearing came out and it accidently "shot" Sam. While the chances of this happening are remote, they are certainly in the realm of possibilities. I am truly hoping this is what happened. An accident is a much better scenario.
