Default Obedience training

Any one know of a good dog (puppy) obedience trainer nearby The Villages? Individual or group OK.

I'm sorry I don't know of any here in Florida. But the trainer I used in NY fed us a classic line when he said "it isn't the dogs who need to be trained, it's the owners!"

Just thought you would enjoy this insight, for what it is. Good luck in your search -- with all the pet owners here I would suspect you will be getting referrals.

I just barely graduated from an Obedience Class. Maybe it works on Dogs too?

You are right! It's always "train the trainer" and it's usually the trainer who has failed.

There's an article on Page 1 of the Daily Sun today (8/21) about Tammy Smith, a local dog trainer. She owns "Be the Leader of the Pack" and offers both group and individual lessons. Phone number is 352-775-4893. I don't know her - just remembered the newspaper article when I saw your query.

I know a number of people who have hired Tammy and everyone was pleased.

Thanks for your replies. I understand that dog obedience trainers have to train the owners as well as the dogs. This is why some pit bulls are aggressive and others are gentle and calm. It all depends on which behavior the owner encourages.

Pet Smart has obedience classes. Call the Lady Lake Pet Smart as well as the one off of CR466.

I have a friend who used them to train her pooch in preparation for taking him on the plane. He is a puppy.

Another lady also trained her new puppy with the help of Pet Smart.

They both seemed to like the people do the training.
