Can anyone recommend a dog sitter who would take care of my dog for about a week or so? I would want someone who would either be willing to stay at my house and sleep in my house over night or keep my dog at your house so my dog wouldn't have to be alone at night.


My dog is very friendly and weighs about 47 lbs.

One thing you might want to consider is free in-home pet sitters. We belong to a network – including many retirees – who travel the world pet sitting for free in exchange for free accommodations.

Last summer we did a two month house/pet sit in The Villages caring for a Gordon Setter and English Setter. We have been trying to let pet lovers in The Villages know about this wonderful concept.

We are NOT promoting ourselves – in fact we’re booked through January of 2017 including a return to The Villages. But it’s an option you might want to consider. Given the beautiful location of The Villages, you’ll likely get responses from many people who would be interested in caring for your home and your dog (for free).

Pet owners benefit by not having to kennel/board their pets and their home is safer since it’s lived in while they are vacation/holiday. And, the pets get to stay in their own environment.

Joan Cain - her group can do either - stay overnight in your home or take your baby into their home (only pet there/no mixing of dogs.)
