Default Outdoor cat in rio ponderosa

My mom just moved in . She has a cat that has lived outdoors up north for several years. She planned to have the cat roam free in day and sleep on lanai at night. Several neighbors told her that this was very dangerous . there were many wild animals and her cat may become lunch. Are they over reacting or should she kept cat inside?

This is a no brainer.
Without going into a million details, keep the cat inside.
Tell your mother to go buy a litter box and for the sake of the kitty, keep in inside!

This is a very bad idea for a myriad of reasons.
Outdoor cats adjust quickly to living indoors and enjoying lanai living.
Please keep the cat indoors!

While golfing yesterday morning I saw a Bald Eagle lift off from an empty storm water basin with a fox in tow.

It is also contrary to the deed restrictions. Out doors all animals must be on a lesh. Even in your own yard.

The OP's mom can call First Avenue National Bank and have the cats taken for walks.

You need to read previous posts.
The OP said yesterday at 2 PM that she was getting a litter box for the cat.

My cats were outdoor cats up North, until coyotes got 3 of them in one week. When I realized what was happening, I kept them indoors. They didn't like it. However, when I moved down here, they were satisfied with the lanai and I have no problems. They seem even happier then they were when they had free access to the outdoors. Put a cat tree (cat furniture) in the lanai for them to scratch and lounge in the sun. They love it! Well worth the money. Its a place they can call thiers

Thanx all. Cat LOVES the lanai. Thought we'd have a problem. She could care less about going out of the lanai. She is loving the Villages life
