Hey everyone, you don't just have to be worried about the coyotes in TV, but ALSO, the bobcats AND bears ! I've seen a bobcat going through my trash bag at dusk and I know of a bear going through a dumpster looking for food, behind a Rec.Ctr. here (the story WAS in The Daily Sun) at around 9:30p. Sooooo, we do live in the middle of state where for yrs these wild animals had their own natural habitate, expect to see this more often people. (talk to the natives who've lived in this area their whole lives, it'll be very educational to us who are recent transplants from cities, etc, etc.)

We lived on a golf course in southern CA in 20 years ago. It was a really lovely small community and had a wide gated boulevard. I was walking down the boulevard one day and 3 coyotes were walking towards me. They never veered. When they were about 25 feet away, I scooted into the gatehouse and was amazed that they walked right by. These creatures have been and are being displaced. Although they may have been more shy, they are becoming less so as time passes and they become accustomed to mankind's lifestyle. If they are hungry, they will take the chance of grabbing a little dog. Make no mistake. Better to be vigilant and respect their lifestyle.

There are coyotes in New York City, what would make you think that they would not be here.

About 3 weeks ago I was walking back towards my house on my daily walk, about 3-4 houses away and I saw a coyote cutting across the corner of my yard (corner lot), across the street to the golf course behind the houses. I was far enough away I wasn't sure of the details. When I finished my walk my neighbor was out in his yard and he confirmed to me that he had seen it up close as it came from behind his house and across my yard. A couple weeks earlier a fox was observed going up the golf cart trail across Baldwin Drive and my neighbor across the street said he sees them quite often. St James is across the course from us (St Charles) and it is a fairly new development and remember that this area was no doubt occuppied by various critters not too long ago - they were here first. There are rock croppings on the course, so a den there abouts would not be too far fetched.
Bottom line is that I would certainly not dismiss such an event.............. |
We are renting in the lovely village of Bonita right now. 2 weeks ago we watched as a lovely, elegant, red fox stroleed by on the golf cart track by hole number 4 on the Kenya golf course. We see these every day in England, but first time here in Florida.

They do look a bit like a fox and certainly like a dog.

Played the Arrowhead Golf Course in Littleton, CO. recently and discovered a semi-tame fox that wandered the golf course looking for handouts. Apparently, the greenskeepers started feeding it and the rest is history. We kept our distance since you just never know if a fox has rabies. A little farther along we came across a doe taking a rest in someone's yard. Talk about displacing these animals.

They are here.
From the lanai, we heard a noisy commotion (birds & ???), then saw a coyote come from that direction & trot by on Tarpon Boil last night at dusk. It trotted along between the house & the third green, headed south. This is the second sighting here in a year.

could not be more wrong. I live on the eagle preserve in Liberty park and the packs are outside my back window on a regular basis.

Coyote warning!!!
We spotted one crossing Balesteros in Santiago this morning. No question it was a coyote. Watch out for your pets. |
Yes i have spotted coyotes on the golf course in my back yard but only one at a time. However I have seen on a number of occassions domestic dogs that have run in a pack, one pack encircling my car and not allowing me to get out. so if domestic dogs can run in packs I don't question coyotes running in packs here. We also had a wild boar running through our yards and night forging for food leaving diggingg all around. We went to the beach and wached sea gulls swoop down pulling food out of the hands of people. It does appear that the wild life is getting more and more aggressive especially given the number of bears seen in the suburbs and cities
