tiny dogs can be a problem... with birds... on their own no matter where they are you need to watch them

Don't worry about the barking? It might surprise you to know that many people, dog owners included, don't like to listen to dogs that bark incessantly. Doesn't make for a good neighbor.

Absolutely, that's why I always say I have the best neighbors. Nobody complains, no one has problems with anything. THEY ARE GOLD.

up north our neighbor behind us just out our bedroom door leaves their dog out rain, shine, snow, freezing rain. and we bark non stop 17 hours a day ( a dob) poor dog just wants in, wife doesn't like dog so won't let him in. yep animal control has been out fined them more than once..so to say people don't mind barking dogs, well you can come over any time to enjoy this noise day or night, and yes we have a dog of course he is deaf almost blind so he doesn't notice the dog just the wife, when she comes out he growls LOL

 Funny! Seriously, I read that The Villages' largest number of complaints are for barking dogs. I think television noise on lanai's was second. When people live in such close proximity, one must really try to be considerate of others.

Also with P/V, {off subject} the people on the blind side of your villa take care of the land up to your buildtng line? Is this ever a problem with thier planting shrubs or vines, etc. close to or on your building. As this is something I never do, and would not like to have any problems with it.:wave:

I can see where this could be a concern , but I bought a patio villa as I am part time...I have not and my neighbors has not had any problem here with dogs barking or doing there job everywhere. We also have had no problems with any neighbors planting things next to others homes with no concern...I am in a P/V neighborhood that is perfectly quiet except for the lawn keepers.Remember I am not here full time and I have never been here Jan thru April...Thats probably a whole other story !

There is no reason for that much noise on the lanai watching TV...Buy TV Ears or a battery headset...Tv Ears are better because they recharge but I also have a battery headset for watching TV and they are great...You can totally mute the TV and hear it just fine in the headset and they where only 15 Bucks, what a deal ! So if you are a little hard of hearing get them you will hear what you have been missing ..

My thinking is that my dogs favorite past time appears to be to look out the window at everything that passes. They seem to prefer that to spending time in the yard. We go to the dog park whenever we can and they of course, love that. So I'm wondering if a patio villa with an enclosed lanai might be something to consider so they could be out there watching all the action.
(I'm also frantically wondering how I can make the move to TV as soon as possible and keeping my expenses down helps that.)

Hi. I have a CYV and its great for our pups.
We have a friend with a PV and his dogs love the windows as well.
When we lived in NY, we put a CAT SEAT (20 bux, Petco) in the windows and this was the GO TO perch for the dog all over the place. It is a great investment and holds up to 22 pounds. they already love the same thing here but have the advantage of going out of doors at their liberty.
Love the lanai idea. You can't go wrong with that.
All the best...;)

Doesn't TV have a leash law?
