Three topics are always guaranteed to get people's dander up. Politics, Dogs and the POA! :undecided:
Many of us who own pets consider the animals to be part of the family. Some visitors expect to have pets locked away when they visit, or they feel that their hosts are being inconsiderate. Just because we have different opinions and values, it doesn't make anyone inconsiderate or lacking in respect. |

Can I borrow your pug sometime? He is adorable! Can't believe I'm saying this but after 2 years I guess I've forgotten how much it used to bug me....I kinda miss the slobber all over my front door's sidelight windows that my dog used to leave. |
Keep your hose handy and give the delinquent's a squirt when they come by. It worked for me many years ago with my neighbors two barking dogs. She got tired of drying them off. She never said a word.
|
If someone was to "hose down my dog because he happen to Bark" that person or me would get knocked on his butt, but one thing for shore someone is getting a butt kicking. If this makes someone mad , to bad, don't mess with my family including my dogs!
|
I don't believe anyone loves their babies more than I do, but I like to think I am a responsible dog owner. I've asked my neighbors to let me know if they bark during the day and evening when I'm out and they have mentioned it to me, so I took appropriate measures to stop the annoyance. It wasn't hard to do, and I do want to be a good neighbor.
I also will put my dogs behind a gate in a bedroom when I have company because I do not like them jumping on people (they don't smell butts, they are very mannerly Schnauzers), they only go in my yard, they are very well behaved when I have a party (and those of you who have been to my parties have remarked on it) and that's because Mom gave them a beautiful bedroom to hang out in together and lots of carrots and warm quilts to sleep on, what's so bad about that. I think they are living wonderfully in Heavenly Hadley and they don't want for nuttin!! |

Your anger is understandable, but your response I can't agree with. If someone turned a hose on a pet it really is the same kind threat as turning one on a child. People love their pets. Some people don't think how annoying their children are either sometimes. I think most people try very hard to see that their pets don't annoy anyone. I believe that most people wouldn't do something as aggressive as turning a hose on a dog either. We are grown ups here. |

As a dog owner I might frown on you dog training techniques. It might force me to use some human behavior modification. I suggest people not take the law in their own hands but contact the proper authorities. Cooler heads alway make for a better and more permanent solution.:boxing2::boxing2: |
I Agree!
I agree 100% with you Mel. Don't mess with my family and my pets are a big part of our family. ;)

dogs
maybe people should think twice about having dogs. one thing when you have your own property like up north. different when we are so close. remember not all of us are dog lovers, they are still animals.

I think dog owners need to be responsible, but dogs are allowed. If you want to live in a development without pets, move to a place where they are not allowed. Just ny opinion |

Loving Pets!
Wow these were some very interesting posts! I am a dog lover and dog owner, having 2 small rescues who are a work in progress after the abuse they went through. I feel the Villages is very pet friendly having lived here 6 years now. I am also near the area by Nancy Lopez some have mentioned and agree people should NOT be letting their dogs off leashes there. We live on a corner lot ans yes people seem to think our lawn is fair game for their dogs to be on...NOT! We have someone who I think is new to our area that walks his dog and lets it go on other people "private property"! Yes at least he picks up but that is not the point, not all my neighbors have dogs though they all love the dogs in our area. But this jerk has gotten rude with my husband who only said hello , good morning but my husband was out with ours and one is very leery of other dogs still and this guys lets his dog come on our property uninvited and when my husband puled out dogs away his comment was well you're really friendly! It bowls down to a couple of rules of thumb, do not approach or let your dog approach another dog unless you KNOW the dog and person. If you want to walk you dog let it do its business on your own lawn before walking, unless you personally know the people and they are ok with you letting your dog on their property do not do so! Just common sense and common courtesy. As far as putting a sign up good luck if you live in Marion County as I do, you can't have anything up in your yard :( Gotta love those deed restrictions...All in all TV is a great place to live and work, yes I still work part time. The huge majority of people here I found to be wonderful as are their pets :) But as anywhere there is always a bad apple or two :) Peace and Love to all :)

If someone sprayed my kitty with a garden hose I would call the police. (MY karate chop never has been any good.) But it can't happen unless my kitty escapes somehow. |
