I don't know who is a great vet in The Villages, but I was in a real pickle today. My puppy was vomiting bile (for over an hour) and I was 1100 miles from my vet.

The folks on TOTV recommended Buffalo Ridge. Buffalo Ridge didn't have any openings when I called but they told me to bring her in when I told what was wrong. They said I might have to wait a bit but they would work her in. When we got there, they checked her gums to make sure it wasn't a real emergency. I don't think we waited 10 minutes.

Dr. Vernon gave her a thorough exam and took an X-Ray to make sure everything was okay internally. I don't believe they over tested her as some vets do.

I was very pleased with their services and have already put their information in my contact list so I have it when I move to TV with Lexi and my two cats.

Sable, let us know how Lexi is doing tomorrow. Fingers crossed that she will be well.

Buffalo Ridge isn't our primary vet, but we make sure we use them occasionally.
We want them to have files on our two dogs because they have the only 24/7 emergency vet service in The Villages which is a blessing.
Buffalo Ridge Vet service also collects donations for the Humane Society. We take pet food, old towels, and unused dog toys, leashes, etc.
They collect newspapers for the Humane Society every Monday.

I am glad you got your puppy into the vet and that she is doing better.

Your description of her symptoms made me wonder if she had eaten something fatty.

Our dog Annie, who lived a long and happy life, had the same symptoms one time. It happened after she had mooched some ham when I was not paying attention.

She got sick pretty fast after that ham and we took her to the vet. He diagnosed her with pancreatitis and said to be very aware of her diet. He suggested a food that we ordered by mail from Michigan. The first ingredient was chicken, as I recall, and the overall ingredients were supposed to be rather bland. This was before there were so many specialty dog foods available everywhere. This one was not overly expensive at the time.

She was fine after that but we had to be very careful that she did not talk anybody into sharing fatty food.

I just looked up canine pancreatitis and it said that it is more common in schnauzers and terriers. Annie was neither of those. She was a beautiful mixed breed who showed up at our door one day. (We named her Annie because she was an orphan.) There was no terrier or schnauzer in her DNA that I could see.

She got through her bout with pancreatitis. We became the food police. And she lived to be almost 17.

I am not a vet. But because those symptoms you described were so familiar to me, I thought I should tell you that it might be a good idea to make sure nobody is slipping delicious fatty food to your puppy. -- No matter how convincing she may be.
