Default Snowbirds with a Pet

Are there any Snowbirds out there that fly commercial airlines back and forth with a pet dog? Would like to know your experiences and receive some tips and advice. Larry Cox, Calumet Grove.

Is your dog small enough to fly in the cabin with you?

Do not put your dog in the belly/luggage compartment of the plane.

I just read the article from Smithsonian. My thoughts, even before reading the article is we would have never considered flying our pets in a cargo hold. We wouldn’t even feel comfortable stuffing them under the seats in a carry on. We are paying a price because anytime we want to make the trip to the Villages at least twice a year we need to make the long drive from the New England.

I know that’s not the answer you were looking for just my 2 cents on pet travel.
