Get a good marrow bone, and it's free.

Default Caution

Pls use caution. I had a very small Pomeranian. The Vet suggested teeth cleaning $$. Dogs have never before required teeth cleaning by the way. The Vet gave too much Anesthesia and the dog was effectively brain dead. Of course Vet was overwrought but it was too late by then. A terrible tragedy. Often bad breath indicates a tooth may need to be pulled, thats a medical issue. Be cautious. It’s a revenue source for Vets. Do you really want to take that chance unless its medically necessary??

Had our Yorkie done at mulberry on CR42 almost to 301 before the railroad tracks. They was very cautious and had to take her in first for evaluation. I agree can be dangerous especially if dog is older or have medical condition? most won’t do older dog? Usually very expensive around $500 dollars.

Hopefully some will offer other ways to help clean dogs teeth as stated by two bills?

Each vet's office set their own prices. Call around. If your dog's teeth are not very bad it will be less then if they are really dirty. Of course, you will want to have the bloodwork done prior to the cleaning. And even if your dog's teeth look clean looking at them, they can have build up under the gum line. You may also have the expense of tooth extraction. If you are concerned about local vets or your dog has a health issue like a heart murmur, you might want to consider going to the vet school in Gainesville at University of Florida. I had a dog with a significant heart murmur that I took up there for her dental work.

I have our dog's teeth cleaned at our groomers. They don't offer anesthesia and don't do extractions; I think they charge $50, and recommend that you get your vet to prescribe antibiotics one week before to prevent possible infections.

The UF Small Animal Hospital in Gainesville is a little more than an hour from TV and well worth the travel time.

In my opinion they set the gold standard for pet care. Service, focus on the pet and communications with the owners has no equal. They also have the advantage of having any and all the specialties/specialists on site as well as labs and diagnostic equipment.

They also have 24/7 emergency care on campus with a second location in Ocala (30 minutes away).
