Thanks for the suggestion. I did go to Petsmart in Lady Lake this past Saturday. Unfortunately I arrived way too early and my ability to keep moving or sit still was not working for me. I had to leave before they opened. I'll try to locate Max's Pet Connection on-line.

Check out this website. It gives a list of hypoallergenic breeds. Good luck.
Hypoallergenic Dog Breeds - American Kennel Club

That's an interesting list. We adopted a rescue Portuguese Water Dog, but she weighs 70 lbs. What a fabulous dog.
As far as dogs under 10 lbs, I've noticed that poodles, maltese and yorkies, or mixes of these breeds, seem to be most commonly found in rescue situations.
Good luck to Hummintwo in finding a lucky dog to suit their needs. I can tell they will be wonderful pet parents.

Rescues are usually fostered so you will get lots of information regarding their character and traits. May I suggest you look into getting an adult rescue. Young dogs and puppies require lots of energy while a senior isn't as much work.
This rescue organization has beautiful dogs up for adoption and the list is always changing. My avatar is a 4 lb maltese and when they are that tiny they can be fragile. Good luck.

Because you have tried so hard to be helpful and I am so grateful that I want you to be the first to know (here) that I will be bringing a precious eight years young lady home on Friday from the Sumter Human Society. These folks have been just wonderful and my Lilly (that will be her name) is pretty red haired shih-tsu. I know I am not spelling her breed correctly but I don't think Lilly will hold it against me. I did explain I am a blank page and they have been very kind to help me through the process which moved along quite swiftly. I will keep you informed of our goal of making Lilly happy and comfortable for as long as God is willing. Wish Lilly and I blessings! Carol

I have no idea what a hypoallergenic dog is, but I know someone looking for a home for a boxer if anyone is interested.

Look at Shih Tzu Rescue of Davie or Shih Tzu Rescue of South Florida. We contacted them a few months ago and rescued a beautiful Shih Tzu female. Great qualification process and they really car about finding a good home for the dogs. If you would like more information please send me a private message. I cannot say enough good things about them.

Good luck in your search.

Just posted and said to look for Shih Tzu Rescue of South Florida or Shih Tzu Rescue of Davie. Here is the link - Shih Tzu Rescue - please, check them out. If you want go to adoptions and look at photos of dogs. We were very lucky to get Lisa Janet who now is Mindy. What a fantastic dog and very special addition to our family and life. Harriett and Erick are wonderful people doing a fantastic job.

Congratulations on your new family member! Would love to see a picture when you bring her home. Lily is a lucky little girl to have found her forever home with you!

Thank you so much for your kind words. You know, I am still trying to figure out how I want to spell her name. Not as if my little one will read anytime soon. I better get enough sleep tonight but it is not easy for an old girl who can still get excited about events that are particularly special. Carol

How wonderful, Carol! An eight year old baby is an excellent choice. Thank you for thinking rescue!!!!

Congrats on your new family member. Sometimes it takes a little while to find "the one". So glad you did. Pets bring such joy to our lives. They are great companions. Hope you can share a photo with us.

I received a call this am that my Lily has colitis following Wednesday's Vet visit to be spayed. The Humane Society asked to keep Lily through the weekend and will call me Monday. Lily may have been a little nervous about having a procedure but she is expected to respond to medication. I will keep everyone informed when where able to bring Lily home. Carol
