We have an exceptionally well behaved and clean dalmation dog.

................He's made of porcelain and sits near our front door window to scare any intruders.

We're quite happy with him and haven't taken him out in his stroller for awhile due to the summer heat.

Schaumburger 09-16-2014 09:14 PM

I never had a pet as a child :(. So when I bought my own house in the 1990's I decided it was time to be adopted by a cat. Magic (1997 - 2013) was my first cat, and he was a joy. Molly, the cat on my avatar, adopted me in June of last year a couple of months after Magic went to the Rainbow Bridge. She is a shy, loving, eating machine who hasn't met a cat treat that she doesn't like :) .

We have two cats. Harry is in charge of the lanai and keeping an eye on birds and geckos that may morph into dinosaur sized creatures and could attack us.

Hershey is in charge of supply management and keeps a constant eye on the refrigerator and the pantry and the clock and reminds us when it is time to prepare a meal...for HIM.

Mikey is my personal assistant and at this time is asleep on a towel next to my computer. Mikey monitors my shower, my cooking, my telephone conversations, my reading materials, reads all computer correspondence and accompanies me to the bathroom.

All both of them have to be ushered into their private room with the laundry machines when we have guests because they interrupt and pest on people until they are given copious attention.

Helene, Sweetie and I are their staff and we are doing the best that we can and every once in awhile we are pretty sure they are pleased.

I agree ... most cats have "staff."

We love her! She was born feral. We adopted her at 8 weeks, and she grew up with our two dogs, a schipperkke and a terrier mix.

Aren't Golden Retrievers a great breed? Has anyone seen one that is not one of the most lovable creatures on earth. I've never seen a mean one.

They can get mean if need be. I've seen it when attacked by another dog. I was very proud of him. Immediately went back to passive mode when he was done.

:agree: Dogs are total love. They don't have a mean bone in their body unless they're trained by humans to be that way.

Over the past 50 years I have had: 1 male Standard poodle (apricot);4 purebred Siamese cats, 2 mixed breed part Siamese kitties, not all at the same time; 2 exotic shorthair part Persian kitties; 1 male and 1 female standard poodles (both black); 1 abandoned part-terrier puppy found in parking lot; 1 regular size dachshund male, wire-haired; 1 male Gordon Setter, show dog; 1 grey cat adopted from shelter. and presently I have two black-and-white cats adopted from Cat Rescue. I would love to have a dog but I think I'm too old to take on training a puppy and to me that's the most fun part of owning a dog.

Just posted this and the picture didn't show up. Anyway, it's supposed to be the picture of your puppy.

I have had many, many dogs over the years. For 40 years I had Great Pyrenees. I got into greyhound rescue in the early 90s (I think) and fostered many of those sweet, easy going beauties as well as having my own greys. Then I found borzoi and fell in love with them. Somehow I am a sucker for vacuuming. I had all 3 breeds and usually a pack of 5-6 dogs before coming to TV. I have to say that's one of the hardest things about living here and not having a large pack of dogs to greet me when I come home.
I love this thread and all the love I see when everyone talks about their dogs, present and past. So many cute pictures and wonderful, heartwarming stories. Thank you for posting.
Picture of my 2 borzoi (the puppy is a borzoi), 2 greyhounds, and a Great Pyrenees visiting with my 90 year old aunt.

Yellow English labs. Lost our last one Samantha over three years ago at 14 yrs old. Unfortunately, try as we might, cannot find another lab to fill our hearts like Sam, we both still see her and hear her in the house, especially at night. She would roll over in her bed with her legs in the air and then get stuck between the bed and the wall and one of us would have to get up to get her up from between the bed and the wall. Miss that beautiful animal, our avitar.

Shi Tsu is printable, I think. Ought to be anyway.

Samantha is very beautiful. And it sounds like she had quite the personality.
Adopting again is hard and sometimes we feel disloyal.
But if you asked Sam, she would say "Adopt a dog that needs a home, Mom, you have so much love to give."

I could have a slew of ragdolls. Our son had two, now down to one. You can wear her over your shoulders like a stole. What a sweetheart, and so silky soft. Her brother was the same. Unfortunately, he was a cancer victim at age five.

My guy's name is MILES and he is a rescue. Found him on petfinder.com. He is approximately 5.5 years young. Very smart! Loves golf cart rides - if we can't find Miles he is sitting or lying down in the golf cart waiting patiently for us to take him somewhere. Miles goes out and brings the paper in from the driveway every morning but won't give up the paper until you are in the laundry room where his treats are kept!

Miles looks like a smart dog. I love scruffy dogs.
