It's frustrating! I'm probably also know as the "ole bitty" with the signs and ocassionally I will find a neighbor half-way up our yard that obviously cannot read and has to be reminded!....BUT I'm really a nice gal EXCEPT when it comes to this!

I did just order a sign today... :)

I know I am a kind, caring, respectful neighbor, and if they don't care to be the same, they can then "brand me" to be a people hater, because I will keep asking them to keep their dog off my lawn, and may have to resort to dumping my kitty litter on theirs...who knows? Nah, I wouldn't do that...it would be rude, but imagine if I did. I know...this is an old boring subject, but I just didn't have this in my old neighborhood. People walked their dogs in the street and picked up from there. I knew every dog, loved and petted them all, but NONE of them pooped on my lawn. There's some entitlement going on here that I just don't get. And quite frankly, when I was buying I never heard it advertised that this was a "dog friendly" community, like that was a big selling point. Maybe, I just overlooked that NOT imagining people wouldn't have their pets with them.

Whew.......all I can say is.....I'm glad I'm not your neighbor.. Seriously though.....this whole "discussion" is not worth the tizzy that this has put you in. Settle.......

Oh for the good old days when doogie doo turned to a pile of white chalk after a day or two in the Southern sun. I guess it was the 1950s dog diet that caused this. Hit them with the mower and poof...a puff of white powder. If you don't remember this, you didn't grow up in the South and didn't mow lawns as a kid.

North of CR 466, homes are irrigated with potable water.
South of CR 466, homes are irrigated with non-potable water which is comprised of storm water runoff that is collected in water retention areas and groundwater from the lower Floridan aquifer when storm water supplies are not available.

Okay, so unless your neighbor is pooping in the yard I guess that isn't an issue, but what about all the critters, wildlife and birds that are pooping in the water retention areas??? Just think this is much to do about nothing!

People have far too much time on their hands and are just looking for things to aggravate themselves and complain about. Maybe they should spend their time doing something nice for others or helping those less fortunate or working to make the world a better place rather than sit around posting their complaints on a forum which isn't going to make a hoot of difference. It is a ridiculous pastime.

I think it is time to start a thread on why people don't complain about watering their lawn with their neighbors poop. Such a tizzy everyone gets in over this dog poop thing. Really makes me laugh.

And most of them could care less about cigarette butts all over the streets. Also all the smokers who ruin an evening out by pouring their smoke out for everyone to enjoy. Where are the signs and security for these law breakers.

(Of course, I don't live in the area that was being spoken of previously, so I can't dispute that.) I have no issue with dogs in that area, and actually love to visit with them. I DO think a lot of non-owners are being unreasonable there, and most dog owners DO clean up. Peoples pets are a fact of life, and they have to take them somewhere to relax and play, as long as the owners are being responsible. I have NEVER tripped over a dog leash, something complained about earlier also. My only issue with the dogs is owners that LET them come up on to MY lawn to do their business. It is MY lawn and I have a right to have an opinion about dog waste, once you're up there. I don't buy owners that say they can't stop them. YOU are holding the leash...STOP THEM. We just need to all be respectful of each other, and this should be a dead issue.

I agree with you. I don't understand why they just don't put up signs at the post office to CURB YOUR DOG and please pick it up. A sign is positive reinforcement . Helps people remember what to do.

where can we walk our dogs? seems that dogs are not welcome

I do not have any pets at this time but I really dont understand why people have to walk their dogs on other peoples property. If you have a dog let him relieve him/herself on your own propertyI would never walk a dog on someone elses property. There is a man at the mailing station in duval that walks his dogs right up to the mailboxes and he gets his mail on top and 3x now we have seen his 1 dog lift his leg and urinate all over the bottom mailboxes. This is disgusting and makes me very happy that my mailbox is on top. I made a comment to him and he pretended he did not hear me. Also we have seen the bags full of waste in the trash by the mailboxes. I do not have to tell you what that smells like in august. Unfortunately the slobs ruin it for the people that do it right.

Oh yes, but unlike those complaining and upset about something that will not be solved on an anonymous forum, I am not upset. I find this entire tizzy just so silly. And with that, I shall be off to enjoy the rest of this wonderful Valentine's Day.

What laws are they breaking by "pouring their smoke out for everyone to enjoy"?

Take a picture of him with you cell phone when the dog is lifting his leg , than tell him your sending it to the post office.

I can't speak for others but I smoke and do not break any laws. I smoke only where it is permitted. And, for the record, I do not, and never have, left butts on the ground. I pick them up and put them in my pocket until I find a receptacle to dispose of them in.

And if your evening is ruined by smokers, then I suggest you don't sit close to where smoking is permitted. Laws are laws and I abide by them and if you choose to sit close to me, then it's not my problem!

brightspot01 - The same way a conscientious dog walker scoops the poop into a newspaper sleeve is a great way to protect your pants pockets from cigarette disposal...personally learned that the hard way after realizing too late the butts had been processed by the washing machine!!! :cus: Since that day I always travel with a snack size food saver bag or a snipped length of the newspaper sleeve [knotted on one end] for the purpose of saving my butts! ;)
