Default Kitchen stove exhaust fan that is through-the-wall

Hi, My house has a recirculating fan in the hood of my stove. Has anyone converted one of these to a through-the-wall kitchen exhaust fan? Thanks for any help you can give. Nancy

Are you referring to the fan that is part of the Whirlpool microwave mounted above the cooktop? If so, the fan can be rotated so that the exhaust air goes toward the back of the microwave. But, you would need to remove the microwave, cut a hole into the exterior wall, and then reinstall the microwave with the fan in the proper position.

I haven't done such a conversion, but I'm glad that you asked. I've been considering doing the same thing, in my case just so the exhaust fan in the microwave oven doesn't kick on every time that I boil a pot of water with a sound and fury that makes me wonder if there's a 747 taxiing through my kitchen.
