Another cold weather phenom - Exploding manholes!

I was just listening to Faux News for my afternoon laugh and Shep Smith was reporting on 51st and 6th Avenues in New York City that there were explosions occurring around 2 pm today.

It seems as though there was some fire under the street level (he said that NYC goes about 8 stories below street level) and the heat was causing generator explosions and manhole explosions. Dangerous situations when that happens.

Frost quakes, exploding manhole covers, and frostbite. Sure makes me happy to be in The Villages even with a hard freeze warning tonight.
