Stopped in there 3 years ago in my rv. Got a 5 cent cup of coffee and a t-shirt. Quite a place. Camped at the national park for 5 days. Spectacular.

Stopped there in 1983 traveling thru. Got a picture of me standing in front of the sign.

What memories. Bought my jackalope head there...... Had him up on the wall till the antlers finally fell out and I couldn't glue them back in..... hated throwing that guy away. Almost had a funeral for him...

I loved him that much!!

Wall Drug Store is a 25 minute drive/25 miles from THE BADLANDS NATIONAL PARK in SOUTH DAKOTA.

You can spend an entire morning or afternoon there, have lunch, etc.
We had been told to see the Badlands in the early morning light for the best photography, which we did......and then continued on to Wall Drug Store. Amazing place. Awesome merchandize. They even had a chapel.

While having a hot roast beef lunch,(it is the west after all) met "servers" , young teens, from Estonia, Czech Republic, all over Europe in fact.

It's kind of in a God forsaken place.........but travelers do find it. Interesting history below with more to read on their website............Walldrug.com walldrug.com (http://walldrug.com/) Scroll all the way down to the map of the entire place.

************************************************** **********************

''It was December 1931. Dorothy and I had just bought the only drugstore in a town called Wall on the edge of the South Dakota Badlands. We'd been open a few days, and business had been bad.

I stood shivering on the wooden sidewalk. In this little prairie town there were only 326 people, 326 poor people.

Most of them were farmers who'd been wiped out either by the Depression or drought.

Christmas was coming, but there was no snow, no sparkling lights — just viciously cold air. Out on the prairie the cold wind whipped up dust devils. I could see a Tin Lizzie chugging along the two-laner. Suitcases were strapped to the running boards. Someone's going home for the holidays, I thought to myself. I wished they would stop, ..........82 years later...

Now there are people bustling all over the streets of Wall. If Ted & Dorothy can make it in the dust bowl days of the Dirty 30s then there is no such place as Godforsaken in this great country we live in...AMERICA. We are still here and gas prices are low. All signs lead to Wall Drug!''

ABOVE WAS THE SHORTENED ARTICLE. FULL VERSION CAN BE FOUND ON THEIR WEBSITE , MENTIONED ABOVE.

And........if you ever take a road trip and get out to Wall, don't forget to tour the Badlands......great overlooks for photography.
