I am looking to buy an above ground spa, the salesman at a local company told me it would cost $1000.00 to run 220 electric to my lanai, has anyone had this done and is that an accurate figure? Also the company only displayed the average cost of running a 110 fitted spa according to Duke Energy. Anyone on Seco with info on running a spa on 110 outlet

As long as you get a "plug and play" spa, it will run fine on 110. We have had one for several years and have been very happy. The main difference is that the heater will not be as efficient on 110. This should not be a problem in the Florida climate.

I have a spa for three years that runs on 110 and have had no issues whatsoever. I understand that you cannot have the heater running and the hi speed jets at the same time. That is not even a problem. The heater is a smaller capacity, so the water will take a bit longer to warm up, but once at the desired temp, no problem.

I think that my electric bill runs approx. $20/month higher in the summer (no heater) and approx. $30/ month in the winter with heater.

Bought the spa from T & D Pools at their Colony Plaza store.

OK, we went the other way, and the $1000 estimate was right on the money for the 60 amp 240 volt GFI circuit breaker, the wiring, the disconnect, and the "plumbing" to get the wire from the outside disconnect to the spa in the lanai. The model we wanted was not available in a 120 volt version, so we could not use plug and play. Bought ours from Spa Kingdom, and we are very happy with it.
