That is a shame. They recently changed the former CEO who tried to make good old Penneys into a lean mean retailer for young and money less. Bad mistake.

They realized it WAS a mistake and just last year rehired the one before him but it may be too late. I love Penneys for drapes and drape rods and a host of other things.

The nearest one is in Ocala. The one in Leesburg didn't carry what we were looking for in the drape department and other areas of interest to us..

Plus, so many shop on line these days.

We just went on Wednesday to the Pennys in Clermont, it's about the same drive as Ocala but it's a non-mall store. It's newer and has a better selection than the Paddock Mall Ocala store. They have a TJ Maxx and Ross next door and a World of Beer, in front is a Buffalo Wild Wings, which we don't have plus a Red Lobster and Olive Garden. On the way into Clermont there is a Belks on the left and on Hwy 50 a couple of miles east is the biggest Target store I've seen. Also the Walmart about 1/2 mile from Pennys is very new and much nicer than the Villages Walmart.

For the best JC Pennys in the area the Florida Mall in Orlando has the best selection, it's two story and the entire second floor is mens and boys. The same distance but the opposite direction is the Gainesville Oaks Mall JC Pennys which is probably the second best and Clermont would be third after those two.

The Pennys in Lakesquare in Leesburg was the worse, as well as the Belks in that mall. In fact that entire mall should be closed, which is a shame because on Hwy 441 that stretch of road has every major chain restaurant around plus many other stores.
