I had been fighting what I thought was left inguinal pain/strain (diagnosed by two doctors) early last May 2013. Only thing each suggested was a couple of exercises and a cold pack after my activities (tennis, softball, pickleball). Ibuprofen helped tremendously when taken before my activity.
Eight months later --- as things worsened, I was finally diagnosed with a hernia (not inguinal strain) and I am having laprascopic surgery this Tuesday. I researched the doctors carefully and have chosen Dr. Samual Bundz, Leesburg. On the HomeGrades.com (http://www.homegrades.com) website he received a rating of 5 out of 5 from 9 patients. My surgery takes between 15 and 30 minutes and is done in the outpatient wing of Leesburg Hospital. No heavy lifting or resumption of my athletic activities for 4 to 6 weeks.

I have to agree with the other post. The sigmoid colon is on the left side and if it is real bad as mine was you will feel your intestines trying to push out, dont mess around get that fixed. It could kill you. The doc that did mine has retired.
