J C Penney Leesburg will be closing

JCP at Lake Square Mall (Leesburg) is on the list of stores to be closed.

The announcement that the J.C. Penney store at Lake Square Mall will close is another blow to the struggling shopping center where its largest anchor store, Target, is due to close Feb. 1.

When Penney's closes in early May, Sears and Belk will be the only remaining anchor stores at the mall, which opened in 1980.

I used to love Penneys, before they tried to "improve" it. But the Leesburg Penneys location is a sad one, casts a shadow on a once great brand. May God help the employees find new jobs in this trying economy.

Lake Square Mall is really hurting with the closing of Target and Penneys. What a difference 15 years makes----back then it was a busy busy place.

No big loss. The most common product in that store was mold in the ceilings from the leaky roof. Smelled like an old sneaker.
