As if we need another hamburger restaurant in The Villages, not to mention another bar in America's healthiest hometown. I think The Villages could just as well be called, "The Burger & Booze Capital of Florida. ;)

The article I read said that the restaurant will have "crystal chandeliers, table linens and Class A service...." If the Queen of England ever comes to visit The Villages, this will be the place for her to try the taste of a delux hamburger. Hamburgers are finally going "high class", with prices to match.

This is going to be McDonald's on steriods, except there won't be any actual steriods or antibiotics. Everything will be all natural, whatever that means. (No definition of "all natural" was given.)

Now here's the best part: The article said the restaurant will be "vegan-friendly". I think that means the servers will give a welcoming smile to vegans and pretend that vegans are no different than their "normal" customers. We can't complain; at least they acknowledge that we exist. We should be thankful. ;)

The article went on to say that they make their own vegan burger. The implication is that vegans are deprived and can't be happy unless they are offered a fake high-sodium burger on a seriously compromised and gooey "whole wheat" bun.

But, hey, we vegans are beggars and beggars can't be choosers. We'll take whatever we can get. Bring on the high-sodium imitation meat products!

I have never heard of Square 1 Burgers and Bar. Where is it going to be?

I just looked at their online menu. Chances are the prices might have to be adjusted for food, shakes, and drinks for what is the norm for Villagers. Looked like a nice selection, though.

If they are making fresh..the sodium would not be as prevalent

You cannot whine about not having any restaurants and then when one is coming start bi&^%(* about what they offer. No one is required to attend the new place. jeesch!

I personally would vote for "Burger Fi" hamburger restaurant. I would invite VPL, but he can't eat meat, not to mention the unhealthy fries. :D

I told you not to mention, unhealthy fries.

A complaint about $9.00 hamburgers? Someone hasn't checked prices lately for burgers. An $8.99 hamburger is not unusual here in the Villages. You'd pay $13 or $14 in NYC.

One place that has never been mentioned and would be a huge, huge hit is an Genuine 100% Genuine England " Fish and Chip "establishment. With real potatoes (Chips ),fish cakes, bangers (sausages), mushy peas, meat pies,.
Now your talking a real good meal and relatively inexpensive.

They get good reviews in area locations, on Yelp. I for one, will look forward to giving them a try.

I'll second the fish and chips; however, they can keep the mushy peas.

I will give it a try. $9.00 includes a side. If the burger is good it is worth it.

We've eaten at both Square Ones in Sarasota and loved them both. The food is great and the service and decor lifted it from a typical burger joint. Really looking forward to its opening here..I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised.

Kobe beef is not what you're eating at SS. A good burger is worth $$$

After looking at the menu. the food looks like a cut above other burger places, and should be a wecomed addition to TV.

You get what you pay for and sometimes, a better burger hits the spot.

I'll try it.

Presume much?

Now that I have seen the menu, I think my presumption was right on target. They only have one vegan item, a burger, and it is $11.49 That's what they call being "vegan friendly"?

Does it look vegan friendly to you? I only see one vegan item on the menu and it's a vegan burger at $11.49 They don't even have a vegan salad.

Did I whine about not having any restaurants?

They said they are vegan friendly and only offer one vegan item.

Now that I have seen the menu, I certainly won't go there.

A vegan burger for $11.49 ? Should I be happy about that?

What is the going rate for a vegan burger?
I've never seen them offered anywhere...

This thread is mostly off topic with many comments being personally directed.

Since the restaurant has yet to open, this thread will be closed.

Once the restaurant is operating and people can experience it, perhaps that will be a better time to discuss their menu.
