Thursday technical update

Final step 1. The migration to the new server will be at 9 p.m. today.
Final step 2. At that time, we instruction the internet poobah to redirect https://www.talkofthevillages.com to the new server.
Final step 3. Than does not happen instantaneously. It can take 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 3 hours or 8 hours to latch as it is suppose too.
Final step 4. Everybody is happy :hot: :2excited:

The weird thing is that right NOW the speed is as good as it has ever been. You say that we are on the old server still?

Still on the old server. Sometimes it's ok and sometimes it's not. Still, that's not good enough. We want to provide the best experience for TOTV members as we possibly can whatever it takes.

One of the reasons that this (the old one) server seems to be responding faster is that while all of this migration to the new one process has been underway, Darrel has been constantly pushing the old server provider to improve condtions. I think they have finally gotten his message.

Hmmmm....I figured it was like the car noise that goes away when you get it to the mechanic....you've threatened the server and it's reacting! Remember, I've worked with technology for a long time! These kind of things do happen!
