Is anyone having problems with their Verizon cell phones,in District #9 or #10? My sister rents,in the village of Sanibel and has problems, with the reception, with her Verizon cell phones.

Yes. There are other threads on this. Only place my phone would not drop calls was on my front lawn. Gave up and got a landline.

Try dialing *228 then option #2 and it will update your roaming capabilities. I am in district #9 and have no issues at all.

I believe this only works with NON 4G phones.

They need more towers I assume. If I am inside most buildings in Spanish springs I have no reception.

You need to call Verizon and have them open a ticket. They will want at least three dropped calls on record. They told me if my call dropped, prior to calling back the person you were talking to dial ### and then press send. You will get a recording that this is not a valid number but they need some data. Also, I am in district 10. I was told that there is a tower 2 miles from our house but our phone was connecting to a tower further away. Verizon performed what they call a Hybrid PRL manually and connected us to the nearest tower. The service has really improved

Anne,
Thanks for the information. When we first came to Sanibel reception was fine, now that the area is so built up, I am constantly dropping calls. Our contract is up in May and we were thinking about changing providers, but will try this first! Thanks for sharing.

I have Verizon, live in Sanibel and have had numerous dropped calls. And yesterday I missed and important call and 2 text messages while in the house with my phone in my pocket...and that's not the first time that has happened. The phone never rang nor did I get an alert that I had a voice mail and messages. I thought is was just my phone and was headed to Verizon tomorrow. It is so frustrating!

There are a lot of cell towers in the area however I believe there is just too much traffic for them to handle. Would like to hear from AT&T T-Mobile and Sprint users to see what service works best at the Villages.

Hadley checking in to report lots of dropped calls with Verizon. Will call and request the fix someone mentioned earlier.

you will find that overall Verizon has the most extensive coverage nation wide.

If you are having problems did you call them? If not then you should do so as they will walk you through different possible causes and solutions if available in your area. The calls also alert them to a growing problem area that ultimately leads to more tower coverage.

In SOME applications they have a signal booster that MAY help SOME situations.

I find they are very responsive to customer needs.

I have T-Mobile and hubs has at&t - service is just fine any place we have gone in the villages and surrounding areas...except in the new areas - don't have much call to travel over there and spend most time between our home in silver lake and 466.

We have had these services for years and found them to meet our needs - we travel between maine and florida and don't encounter problems with the brief exception of the forested areas of maine...but a short walk out to a clearing works just fine!

In Gilchrist and have Verizon for years. Their performance has always been stellar and still is. Never have a problem here or anywhere in the vicinity.

Are you using a 4G phone? Seems that is where people are having the problem.

I live in The Glenbrook section. I have T-Mobile and at times it takes me 5 to 10 minutes to get enough bars to make a call. Dropped calls are a way of life.

Right now I'm using an iPhone but that's only since October. Previously I had an outdated flip phone that never gave me grief but it was time for it to go.
