Once Gary Morse is gone, one way or the other, the rest of the family may not be polo aficionados, and this is prime property to develop.

when someone decides to post a rumor, they should take responsibility for where they heard the rumor and publish that source. On the other hand if anyone gets pleasure in dreaming up a rumor they should find another hobby.

gary morse is not a big supporter of polo and doesn't even own the polo property. Jim parr is the man responsible and owner of the polo fields and adjopining property.

Gary's son-in-law , Jim Parr, and granddaughter, Paige Boone, both play polo at the Village Polo Club. His granddaughter, Paige,is the manager of the Villages Polo Club. Can't see them getting rid of the polo fields , at all.
Jim is Jennifer Parr's husband and Paige Boone is her daughter.
The family is very involved in polo.

Where are you getting this info ?
Gary Morse attends many of the polo matches, especially if his granddaughter, Paige, is playing. He owns the polo fields. Jim Parr is Gary's son in law(married to Jennifer Morse Parr)

I love love love those polo games! It's so cool that we have polo in TV. Half time and "4 in the 4th" are so much fun. Those horses are absolutely gorgeous. May they always have polo in TV! Well, at least as long as I'm around! :D

With this density of humanity, they need to keep open space. That was the reason Central Park was created.

The property on the rise between the polo grounds and Savanah Center has been staked out for over a year. Maybe that's where some new homes will be?

The property north of the polo stadium (Towards the Savannah Center)consists of the 3rd and 4th Polo Fields and the Polo Office building (which was just built witin the last few years). The Polo Club has been upgrading this area over the last few years.Don't think this will be changed.

Thanks, but I think we're talking about two diferent areas. I'm looking at google maps, and there is a large field farther north of the 3rd and 4th polo fields. It's bordered by Arredondo Dr, Caribe Dr, Carvello Dr, and Buena Vista. You can see the stakes and ribbons behind the fence as you drive up Buena.

I could be wrong, but I believe I read in the Sun a while back that those stakes were all turtle homes. It would be quite expensive to relocate all those turtles.

I think you are right. On the back roads to take our grandchildren to Disney yesterdau, I saw similar little white flags in open fields and a lot of mounds that previously I thought to be big fire ant hills. I am GUESSING that these flags and mounds are connected to some kind of land tortoise or turtle that the golf course called "Turtle Mound" was named after. I know them to be a protected species, because there was a thread some years ago as to why the "ant hills" were left on one of the courses and they weren't anthills but turtle mounds.

The area under questioning is environmental protect property.
As to the land available polo field ,etc remember the bison? What will be the decisive factor is pure economics. It is perfectly clear that the Developer will well develop.

I am from Ohio. In Ohio if some people have acres of land that they aren't farming, they put cows on it to keep the tax base lower until they use it for a different thing.
Those buffalo left town, and although I love furry creatures, me, Gracie, the positive and the defender of animals, have NEVER missed them. Not once, not one blinked back tear, not ever.
AND I agree that the developer will develop, That is what they do. The polo field may well be his selfish sport. I think it is classy and I hope it stays for awhile. It gives me great snobby feelings to point out to the folks back home that look down their noses at a retirement area that WE have a polo field, thank you very much.
Gracie, the snob.
Good Morning everyone. It is a cold, but cozy inside day in The Villages and Helene and I have been invited to a wonderful luncheon at someone's home we just love and I am bringing Johnny Marzetti. Thank you for the invite, Dillywho. Looking forward to the "Classy Ladies Club".

what the villages needs are more public parks. we have golf courses which are nice open spaces, but are completely off limits to those of us who do not play golf. we have retention ponds with no walkways or benches around them. we have preserves, but they are open spaces that we cannot enter. it would be really nice to have parklands, with walking paths and trails and golf cart paths, and perhaps some sort of arboretum with a collection of interesting trees and shrubs. these spaces could be adjacent to where our homes are.

I think that from the very beginning every inch of space was planned. Real estate is money and our amenity fees are just $145. A TREMENDOUS bargain.
This place is so beautiful and well run and to me, perfect, the way it is.
Of course because I am a golfer, I get to walk and ride the 33 executive courses and the 12 championship ones with the beautiful birds and trees and sand traps and vistas of the back of homes. We moved here for the golf. This is heaven on earth to us.
Everywhere I lay my eyes are/is an interesting collection of trees and shrubs. EVERYWHERE.

I agree, a nice park large enough to have walking areas would be a welcome addition. Most of the golf courses are lined with houses, so its not the same ambience as a park. And of course you can't just go out and walk at your leisure on the golf courses. You naturally make a tee time to play golf. The Villages has grown to the size of a small city - why not have a park? A place to give people a sense of nature, away from the development that is The Villages. And walkways would be great, particularly in the area south of 466. There is the walking trail up by Lopez, but other than walking along the streets, there isn't a nice walking area south of 466 that is away from houses and traffic. The multi-modal trails were designed to be shared by walkers, cyclists and golf carts, but many walkers feel uncomfortable and unsafe using the trails, especially this time of year, when the trails are dominated by fast moving golf carts.

Polo is very popular among the family. Jennifer Parr, Gary Morse's daughter and VP of Sales for The Villages, is a rated player who plays at the club. Jim Parr, Jennifer's husband and general counsel for The Villages, is also a rated player who plays frequently in tournaments here. Paige Boone, Gary Morse's granddaughter and Jennifer Parr's daughter, is the highest rated female player in central Florida and Assistant Manager of the polo club. Paige, a fan favorite, plays almost every weekend in tournaments at the Polo Club.
I'm not even certain that The Villages owns the polo stadium facility. I think it may be owned by a corporate entity formed to own and operate the club.
The club and facility are widely known as the highest quality 'low goal' polo operation in the country. The chance that it would be developed residentially has zero probability.
