My daughter graduated from college in California about 30 years ago and returned to Minnesota for two weeks before returning there.
She spent a week in the Minneapolis area with her three brothers and their families then came to Northern area to our cabin we had retired in six months before for a week stay. It was -40* EVERY morning every day of her stay there. Couldn't remember anything that cold in my previous life anywhere in MN.
She enjoyed it probably her plane left at the end of the week for her new job in California.
This morning in The Villages I thought of walking around in Northern MN in that cold weather and observing fishing in our fish house about 100 yards out on the lake in front of our cabin we had previously retired in. Very warm in that cabin but something I will never forget. (It was only a temperature in the 30* temperature and more that 70* colder.

I don't even want to think about temperatures in that range!
In Alabama, we've gotten down below 10 once and below 20 several times in the last few weeks. I've always joked that I really couldn't tell the difference in 20 and 0 because all of it is just too darned cold!
I will say that my relatives in Illinois have always joked that I called 40 way too cold until they experienced 40 in Alabama. 40 in Illinois is a dry 40 and is much more bearable than 40 in Alabama. They finally agreed after experiencing it.
