View Full Version : What's going on with home & car prices?
I've been here for 8 years and in the same home. Love it. . wouldn't move!
Driving my 2nd used car and it's adequate.
What's going on with home & car prices?
I've been looking at used homes in the paper and they seem to be going up by leaps and bounds. Far above what they're worth or what "I'd be willing to pay".
Today I notice the same thing on used cars from private partys here on TOTV. Two cars I looked at were priced about 15% over KBB estimates!
Just a comment!

Supply and demand set the price. Also remember with car pricing they are prepared to negotiate.

When you want to sell, this is good. When you are a buyer, not so good.

Market value is determined by purchasers who are willing to pay the price. Quality retirement communities are in demand right now. If sellers get greedy and start pricing above market value, people will stay away, and prices will correct.
Some resale homes have view lots or other extras, like sun tunnels, birdcages, pools, summer kitchens, granite counters, etc. Unless you tour a home it's hard to judge if it is overpriced. I think purchasers these days are very knowledgeable ... the internet is a great resource. And hopefully purchasers are working with a reputable real estate agent.

I noticed the prices of small ranch houses have reallygone up. I have an austin and one down the block sold for $209,000. It does have the lania enclosed but otherwise nothing special. Used car prices are very high because new cars are selling quite well but there is always room to bargain. I just traded one in and got 7200 and it is on the lot for 9990...Bluebook is 7500.

I believe another real estate bubble is in the works. Prices have gone up too quickly.

Bare is so right as usual. Just for the heck of it, type in your address on the browser bar, you will be happily surprised to see what price Zillow values your home,
