A dredful experience. My group (15 people) chose to go to Glenview CC for brunch after our weekly round on a Monday. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant, however, we were greeted with a cool reception by the hostess, and advised that there could be no breakfast because there was only three minutes left. Then we were advised that lunch would be twenty to thirty minutes because it was too early. (No, this is not a joke. This is an example of how bad a business can get when they have an extremely popular market and no regard for customers. Once seated we were told that they would take our orders, but could not enter them into the computer for another twenty minutes. (This is country club service?) Anyway, that is the basic story. If you are saying, so what is the issue, then you have been here so long you have forgotten what good service is in a good restaurant. Garden variety bland has become the order of the day.

Did you ask to speak to the Manager, I've eaten at Glenview and had great food and a wonderful server. I'd like to think this is an isolated case, there is enough variety in TV that this type of service would not be tolerated, at least not by me.

Yes be sure to tell the manager. We go there often and get great service and real good food.

We were there on a Saturday and it was a cold day and they had sent some of the waitresses home. We were served a couple of pitchers of beer and then were told that if we wanted to eat we had to go inside. We asked to talk to the manager and he was a real **** ass. We left. So if ask to talk to the manager be prepare for an anti response.

On my last visit, several flies hovered over our food. It was disgusting. The server was unconcerned. My filet was superb but the flies ruined the ambiance.

Samhass, I would have left and on the way out if the manager was available in 2 minutes I would have shared with him why I was leaving otherwise the hostess could have given him my message.

We spoke to two servers about the problem. You are correct..I should have called the hostess or manager. You would think however, that the servers would have taken steps to report this issue with someone in charge.

Samhass:
Glenview has been one of my favourites in TV.. However in the past 2-3 months I do see a change, not for the good. Several of my favourite items no longer on menu..
Thank goodness there are others to frequent..

Learned that the Black and Bleu Burger is off the menu. Bummer. It was pretty good.

So far food and service have been great for us. We usually sit in the bar area so maybe that is why. Will quit going if we run into a problem. Quit going to Santiago because of bad service and off and on good food. Also they took my peel and eat shrimp off the menu.

Glenview "used to" have the best Black & Blue Salad which was our favorite item to order. Of course that is now one of the items that was deleted from their menu. We do still go there but not as often.

John, our golf group went to La Hacienda last summer and had the meal from HELL and the waitress from the lower rungs of HELL. She was so bad that she brought all the tickets to the table and gave them to one of our guys and said that we could distribute them. We had not given her a hard time at all. Soooooo, I wrote to the Manager, explained the problems, and received a very nice response, credits, and they asked for another chance.
It took a while to convince my group to go back but we did...the Manager came to our tables and personally apologized then we had an outstanding meal and outstanding service. Others have been back just to test the waters and reported good things. I chose not to make a scene but to handle it with a letter to the GM that just laid out the issues. I think we all benefited and so did the restaurant.

We have never experienced either bad food or service @ Glenview. I guess we've been lucky. I think they are pretty consistant. But, everyone has a bad day now and then.

Unfortunately, at the prices they charge these days one bad meal is enough to turn me off.

I can put up with medicore service but bad food is a no no.

Also being served in a plastic basket with waxpaper that sticks to the hamburger bun and fries. I make it a point to tell them I want a plate. Probably not at Glenview but just wanted to say that.

Well you know that plastic on the spit causes things to stick - especially when you have the mastadon thigh on the spit with it!!

Monday golf socials used to be great. For 25 dollars, 9 hole scramble and a buffet on the patio. Golf and Ken Roshaven the pro are great, but they must have a new manager.
Lousy buffet food. Cheap selections, and few varieties. Very disappointing. Last month they had trouble filling up the social with golfers. It used to be they were waiting in line to sign up. Manager needs to be told to quit pinching pennies, or he won't have a job.

I don't know about you all but I feel ALL of the country clubs don't give a "@(*@" about good service. Just get us in and out as fast as possible. I have been to every one of them and liked some food and disliked some. I find it is definitely hit and miss with food quality. I could give examples of all cc's but I don't want to bore you as it seems you all have had some of the same issues. I have only been here 7 months and already know that TV restaurants are not customer friendly. I think they all need a good old fashioned customer appreciation class, after all, who is paying their salaries??!!!!!!!

 We have been to Glenview several times and happy each time with food and service. On Saturday afternoon they have 2 burgers and 1/2 pitcher of beer for $10. Great burgers and good service ( We never seem to be in a hurry ) and you can't beat the price. It tends to be crowded for this Burger special and you may have to wait up to 20 minutes if you get there at the wrong time.

Just returned from dinner at Glenview - Mr. Travel had 10 oz filet with a blue cheese fondue sauce and I had the 6 oz filet mignon with onion sauce. Terrific meal, great service, happy crowd :beer2:
And our waitress (Daphne) couldn't be better!

We have had good experiences with Glenview, and Mallory Hill as well a Cane Garden. Sorry to hear Palmer is in a down cycle. They took excellent care of us at lunch about 30 days ago.

I eat out 5 nights a week in the tri-county area. I think Glenview is in the top 3 best restaurants in the entire area. For the prices those guys charge....are you kidding me?? Food and service are superior.. Kudos Glenview Staff!

My sister and I ate at the Glenview CC on Monday for dinner - very good! So good infact we decided to go back tonight for their Prime Rib. We ordered it med-rare. Sent it back as it was not even pink - was med. Sent it back second time - the same. Waiter says that is out it was coming out of the oven. We ordered fillets- med rare. Tasteless! As we were leaving to pay, we passed a gentleman and his wife eating. The gentleman was eating med-rare prime rib. I stopped and asked him and he said yes it was.

As we left we told the hostess what was wrong. She got the "manager". He said he "took a picture of our prime rib" and it was right! He said they "tested the temperature of our meat and it was 120 degrees and it was just right for med-rare and they cut ours off".

We told the manager that another customer had med-rare PR. His reply several times was that "we are not talking about his prime rib - we are talking about my prime rib"! He also said "ladies, you aren't going to win this."

Back home I decided to call and find out the managers name. Girl who answered gave me his name as Jeff. When I asked his last name, she said she didn't know. I asked her to find out. She put me on hold. After 6 minutes I hung up and called back. Jeff Braton finally was the name given to me.

We had planned to go back to GVCC Fri. night for the lobster. Needless to say we will not be back. Have never seen a manager's attitude like this!

Anyone know who the general manager is?

Becky

No offense Becky but I couldn't quite understand the story.

Was your prime rib over done or not done enough? Might be me but I couldn't figure that out.

Becky

Sorry Russ! PR was over-done. Main thing was the so called "manager" and his attitude. We were nice, just pointed out it was not med-rare. His comment that "ladies you're not gonna win this one" makes me think he won't be there long!

Discovered after all these years that if you desire meat cooked M. rare order it rare. It continues to cook because of its internal temp. while being served. It's easier to send back to be cooked more but can never be "uncooked".

Correct - steak will usually rise 1/2 of one grade (temp) while resting. Of course very good restaurants know this and prepare it that way. I order my steaks 'almost medium' which usually will provide a pink center. Sometimes it's between rare and medium which is better than over done for me.

The Glenview is one of our favorite restaurants. In fact we took our neighbors there when it was our turn to choose for our 'dining club'. The food was perfect and service was great; wish I had gotten the server's name - he was excellent. (it was a lobsterfest night, but we all had something different & everyone was pleased) There was one night, however, when we ate in the bar. It was after 8 pm, after a show at Savannah - terrible service; waitress did not write down order - it's always, "I've been doing this for 17 years; don't need to write things down" - well, she got several things wrong; items came out separately. She disappeared for several minutes at a time. The servers yelled across to one another. I could tell there was no manager on duty. We said nothing, but the next day I called & got the manager. He had left for the day at 7 pm. He knew who our server was; promised to speak with her, as well as others about their demeanor. The Glenview is still one of our favorites but we will never eat in the bar again.

We had three couples there for dinner last. Terrific atmosphere and excellent service. The menu touted several specials that were priced at two for $22.00. Prime rib is also the Thursday special for two for $22.00. All of the 2 for specials also came with a choice of appitisers. The food was delicious, without one complaint from six people. I topped off my meal with a warm apple dumpling that was to die for. We all made it a point to return in the near future. Last night's dinner rates ****.

After not going to Glenview for a year I went with Mr Atlantic and neighbors and had a wonderful dinner. The hostess was polite and friendly, that pleased me, the hostess they had last year was awful. She never smiled and was extremely rude. I will go back again.
