Unless it's owned and or operated by the same people at Colony. Prices for gas are always at least 10 cents a gal. more

Yeah, but in my cart it amounts to $0.40 unless I run it almost dry. My time is worth more to me than to drive up to 466 to save less than half a buck. Now, in my car, I'm in a position to stop wherever I choose to get gas, but still, even if I put in 14 gallons, it's $1.40 more. I might burn that much driving around to save 10 cents a gallon. YMMV.

If not a WaWa then a Sheetz. About the same with more hot/fresh foods and common in Richmond, VA. I think I've had a meatball sub from Sheetz every Christmas Day for the past three years, about the only thing open besides Chinese.

We're in Pinellas, so anything closer than Colony Plaza would be great.

I am the proud holder of a Sheetz card. They are all over NC and we use it when we are up that way. Good gas prices and by far the best mini mart/convenience store I have ever been in relative to efficiently of operation as well as selection and quality of food.

I don't care what kind of station it is just as long as Colony isn't the only gas station nearby.

I lived in Pinellas County (http://www.pinellascounty.org/) from 1959 to 1977, I pretty much grew up there. It seems that no one ever spells it correctly on this message board. It's just something that I can't help but notice. If you ever go down to St. Petersburg or Clearwater then you'll likely become more familiar with the name.

My guess is that they are counting on that.

It's not wawa. Looks like it will be something affiliated with Exxon.

I agree!! I e-mailed WAWA corperate a year or so ago and suggested they come to The Villages, when I heard of them opening stores in Orlando. They replied that they had no intention at that time. Maybe they have changed their mind. Wouldn't hurt for them to receive a few more e-mails though.

If it's Exxon, maybe it will be a Tiger Mart. That's their current gas station/convenience store model.

We have two in Ringgold, GA. They try to be one of the lowest cost gas stations, but their food prices are exceptionally high.

Sheetz are very common in the Pittsburgh area. They have wonderful mini marts. The new ones have hot food and picnic tables outside.

I wonder if the gas station will be affiliated with the Winn Dixie gas discount program. Those are some of the Shell stations.

WOW, I haven't seen a Sheetz since my son's graduation from GMU. Thanks for the flashback.

I'm with Travelguy. Would love a Wawa close by.
I know some of you are probably thinking what the heck is a Wawa? It's a convenience store and gas station but huge, with great coffee and lots of good stuff. They come out of Wawa, Pennsylvania.

I have got my map of the Villages out but I can't find Pinnelas.

Will the new gas station be closer to or further from Lake Sumter than the other gas station at the Villages (the only one I saw when I visited was by a package shipping place - cant remember the name of it)

Hi LeeM,

The one you visited is in Colony Shopping Plaza, about 1/2 mile east of the intersection of Morse Blvd and 466A.

The "new" one discussed in this thread will be about 3/4 mile west of the intersection of Buena Vista and 466A, in the Pinellas Shopping Plaza.

Both locations are about the same distance from LSL and both are located on 466A, about 3 1/2 miles apart.

Hope that helps you find them on your map.

Regards,
Don

I sent them an email also and got a similar response. I think they are making a mistake not coming here.

Thanks Don,

That was one of the things I wondered about during my visit. I only saw the one gas station.

But will it have a Dunkin' Donuts? Funny thing about this post but we were coming back from the Eisenhower Rec Center today thinking that even to go to Colony would be a hike to fill up the 'ol golf cart.

That was from the Daily Sun...classified....legal notices.

Just looked at the legal notices for the Daily Sun online. This is the best I could discern from reading the notice. I am not business savvy when it comes to these things. So... Legal notice posted 1/30/14 for 1.14 acres for gas station known as Clark Convenience Store at Pinellas Plaza. Appears owner is John Clark Oil, Ashland KY and Villages of Southwest Plaza LLC, 1045 Lake Sumter Landing, The Villages. I tried Googling John Clark Oil. Not much luck, appears to be a wholesale petroleum outfit with 30 trucks(according to DOT). So I am thinking, no WAWA, 7-11 etc. Maybe someone else will have better luck looking all this up online.

Here's what I found on Clark:

Home | Clark Brands, LLC (http://clarkbrands.com/)

They seem to license independently owned convenience stores/gas stations under the ON THE GO label.

Most Clark gas stations closed decades ago in Northeastern Ohio. They operated out of a very small standardized building big enough to hold candy bars, potato chips, pop (soda) and cigarettes. I remember this because they had a sale on gas when they opened up...it was 25 cents a gallon. Filled up my Camaro for $4.00! :a040:

I'm sure a gas station at that location will be more expensive because they have a corner on the market since they are the only one within a couple of miles. Even if they are a little higher, it will be worth it to fill up a gas golf cart because they are so close to some of the newer areas.

The Daily Sun recently had an article about the new station. It will have a 50's retro look and will have a pump selling 100% REAL GAS,NOT 10% CORN.My golf cart will be happy.

Yes, doing away with ethanol makes a lot of sense----we can then import more. Crude. I don't buy gas with ethanol anymore because everyone is using it!

The only way to "beat" Big Oil is to buy their stock and get a small piece of the action. Marketing is all about supply and demand. If you are the only station available, you can charge 10-15 cents more per gallon.

Well, my opinion about a gas station down at the new plaza is.....:a040::a040::a040:

We need gas for cars and carts....now there is another station where we can fuel our vehicles. Complaining about potentially higher prices and avoiding using the station could do more than lower prices....it could bring about the closure....and then it's back to driving a greater distance to get gas...and thus the b*tching starts all over again.....oh, no gas station nearby........
