Yesterday I interrupted a rec manager who was rolling a cart with items from a rec center to a van in the lot and asked to help.

She said thanks but she was fine- just taking a few things to La Hacienda for the auction.

Looks like the villages auctions off used and over-stocked items.

She didn't have any detail on when this took place.

Anybody know about this auction?

Thanks

From WHAT rec center? I would think that it would be Tracy Matthews department who would be in charge of changing things or moving things, rather than the recreational manager.

Did you SEE any of the items in the cart ? Just wondering if it was the items that are being auctioned off at the Chili Cookoff today. Most of the items are gift basket type items as opposed to items from the rec centers.
Here's a list of the items that are being auctioned today at the Chili Cookoff.

I'd be very interested in an auction for rec center items. The rec centers are beautifully decorated.

The items in the Rotary auction at the Home and Garden Show/Chili Cook Off would not have been what was seen. We do not have items physically present at the auction. You buy tickets in the square and put them in a bucket by the item listed that you are interested in. You then go to the establishment to get it that was offering the item.

I saw were several pool cues- which looked to be rather use- and a tripod type easel plus a carton or two of some unopened items...certainly not furniture or decor items but enough that I would offer some help.

I'm not going to say which rec center as this may have been a slip of the tongue buy this person and I don't wish to cause a problem as I see from the posts that this phantom auction is not common knowledge.

The villages cheerleaders were having some type of auction/sale at Hacienda yesterday...perhaps a connection.

And, I do recall several years ago the Villages selling off excess/used property items at Savannah center...so, not unprecedented.

The bottom line is........if there will be an auction there will be advertising. Hard to have an auction without participants. No need for any hand wringing over when or if it will be.
