I was wondering if anyone closed on their home long distance. Can this be done? If anyone has done this, did it go smooth?

We closed by mail, no problem, I think they do it all the time.

I bought a house on line without seeing it and got a loan from my home state of Minnesota and it went very smooth with the title company in the villages handling everything the realtor I WENT with had done an excellent job of organizing the inspections and all the paperwork was done by fax and e-mail I figured I SAVED $20000 by been involved with this particular realtor and and getting a loan in my home state if this is a new home watch for the add ons :welcome:

How soon after you closed by mail did you feel you needed to be there to make sure everything was alright or to handle setup of utilities, etc.

Closed our home by mail in August. I have to say that it went smoother than ever. One of the things I like was that we had the paperwork long before the closing date. We were able to sit at our kitchen table and read everything at our leisure, and sign. Some paperwork required a notary. Would I do it again with the villages You Bet Hope this is helpful.

We also closed on a re-sale long distance. At inspection, a small issue was found that the previous owner promised to fix. The people he hired were slow getting to it and closing was delayed. If we had planned to be there it could have been a mess, but as it was, it was a breeze. Our realtor sat in for us -- does it all the time she said.

Closed by mail on our home in June '05. No problems whatsoever. Easiest closing I ever had.

I closed by last home (not in TV) via an on-line webex link. Piece of cake!
