Has anyone installed Quicken 14 and run into a problem?
I installed Quicken 14 and when it gets to "Performing final conversion steps" I get an error screen and that is it. I spent 4 hours yesterday with Rishi and Rajeev trying to fix the problem. They led me down several different paths with no solution. I really think that it is something in my QDATA that Q14 does not like but I cannot convince them of this. I backed out to Q11 and all is good.
Just checking.

I only upgrade Quicken every three years when my old version will no longer be supported. I do not do it every year as they would like.
That being said, I had no problem going from the 2011 version to 2014 and have been running 2014 for about 2 months.

I tried to install Quicken 13 last year and it locked me out of my system. Tech was no help and I couldn't access my information because it wouldn't accept my pass word. Had to uninstall it and returned it. I am still using 09. I googled for problems on Quicken and found a lot of other people had same problem last year. So still using old one.

That is the reason I am going to Q14. I have never had a problem before. I guess I will try it one more time and see if I can get a person that will listen to me. If not, back it goes and I will live with Q11.

Quicken 2011 will stop being supported as of April 30, 2014. What that means is you will not be able to download quotes using the Quicken program.

I understand that but it is no good if it does not load my QDATA file. Trying to get these techs to think about looking at my QDATA file is close to hopeless. I prefer the chat because I am hard of hearing and a telephone conversation would get nowhere - especially since the techs are in India and I have a very hard time understanding them.

I have yet to go to 14. I am at 13 so I have some time....
One thought would be to backup your Quicken data files and then move/delete them. Do the upgrade and see if it works, update Quicken to the latest patch level, then point Quicken at the real files. Sounds like a pain, but may isolate an issue

Thanks for the suggestion. I have already loaded Q14 on an older system with an old QDATA file and it came up and accepted the old file. I then tried to switch to a backed up file of my current QDATA and got the same error. So I am pretty sure it is something in the QDATA file. I do not like their archive process because you cannot flip to the archived data and look at it quickly so I have over 13 years of data in the file. Maybe I should reconsider and archive anything prior to 2010 and see if it works. I shouldn't have to.
BTW: I have worked in computers since 1965. Everything from program development to systems support to R&D. I am pretty sure that I have done everything possible to troubleshoot this problem without being able to look at the code or a dump of the program when I get my error. There is a report produced that I have looked at quickly. Maybe I will reload Q14 on the other machine and see if I can get anything out of the report. Maybe I can delete an entry or two from my current file to get it to work.
I have not given up.

I had a lot of problems going from 11 to 14. I am up and running now.
Before you move to 14 run the file validate programs on the 11 fikes.
Had the problem of password not working. Not sure how I fixed it but try setting program up as if you do not have a data file. After that try loading the converted 11 file again.
Also had a lot of bad data in the new file. Ran file validate and that helped. Also review all accounts that changed from 11 and look for duplicate entries. I am using windows 7 on a Mac Book Pro and the Premier version.
Also put it on windows 8.1 on a SURFACE Pro. It is working but I had to work on it to get it functional. Note turbo tax 13 will not load on the surface pro from a Cd drive. Quicken 14 will load.

Just got an email from Quicken announcing a 50% sale on all Quicken for Windows products for the next 4-days only. This reduces the upgrade price to Quicken Deluxe 2014 from $74.99 to $37.50.
Folks must be very satisfied to stay with older versions of Quicken for them to offer such aggressive upgrade pricing. Quicken 2012 does everything I need or want so the only reason to buy the upgrade is simply to stay current with the product and the banks that support it.
Years ago we had a discussion on TOTV about the value of Quicken and to my surprise not everyone shared my enthusiasm for the product. I wouldn't fly without it!

I sent Quicken all of the documentation requested and they have an updated version of Q14 that will fix my problem. I will install it tomorrow and let you know what happens.
Thanks for all of the suggestions.
