next friday night is Valentine's day. a difficult day for those of us who are not happily in love. i propose another pleasant meet and greet at the LSL porch. restaurants and theatres will probably be very crowded and sitting on the porch is free, relatively quiet and conducive to good conversation. i will show up at seven pm as i did last ime and i hope some of you will join me. if this terrible weather continues, we can always duck into panera's.
here is a good topic for discussion: would you rather be with friends on Valentine's day or on a date with someone, anyone, even if you are not in love? i guess my answer is obvious :) let's hear from YOU!

Hi Cha [I am glad to be on a first name basis now]
I must see you again. I have chartered the "Heart Healed Hotel", a 70 foot yacht, for Friday 6PM to Saturday 6PM, for a private cruise for just you and me on the Inner-coastal Waterway. Lobster is on for Friday's dinner, and Paul and Ringo have agreed to provide the evening's entertainment. They will begin whenever you are finished with the full treatment from the onboard spa staff. So, how about it?

maybe a sure thing

LOL hi bill,

you certainlly know how to tempt a girl...but unfortunately i have a previous engagement with friends and i do not break a committment :) would you want a lady who broke her promises the first time a yacht and some lobster is wiggled in front of her nose? (i admit the lobster is tough to resist!) hope you will come to the porch instead! :)

Bill, didn't you mean the Intracoastal Waterway? Bill can bring the roses, I'll bring the hugs and kisses! LOL Oh, that would be the hugs and kisses for the ladies not the guys! LOL again.

Ohhhh Dianne!!!! Please don't do that.. You make it sound like all us singles are miserable and unhappy without a person in our lives... OMG,,,, you shouldn't act like you speak for all of us. You probably have all the married people thinking we walk around all day with our eyes up and searching for the "right one" every minute of the day because we can't live without him/her. That is sooooo wrong... Valentine's day is just another day for me, as is New Years Eve and every other special day where you feel you need a partner in order to enjoy it. Yes, I enjoy being with the single people but I also enjoy BEING SINGLE. This was my choice and I'm happy I made it, I have no desire to change it now or ever. As long as I have wonderful friends, married or single, I'm a happy person, and I can hang out with any of them, and it doesn't bother me in the least to go out with all couples and be the only single. I'm happy with myself and happy with my life.

I did not get that impression, but you are still right to the extent that she would have been more accurate had she written, "... a difficult day for SOME [ or MANY] of us who are not happily in love...". But, I really do not think any married folks will take her statement that literally, so don't worry that someone will think you are unhappy being single.

There might even be a new "valentine" on the porch that night

Oh my, I arrived at TV with a huge chip on the shoulder about dating. "Kitty is not dating"...that was my motto. And guess who has a Valentine date and a healing heart and can say, "I love you"...ya never know who you might meet here. But take off your chip for just anybody.

ps Dianne is an incurable, nostalgic romantic. If you want to know how you're supposed to feel in any season, drive by her house and see what flag is flying.
She's always in love, even when there's nobody in there with her.

my apologies to Kathie I and any others who ARE happily in love, with LIFE! of course i don't mean that we are all moping around depressed on Valentine's day, but some do find it difficult...so this is for us! :) i hope everyone will be thinking of some good conversation topics, too, such as the one i proposed in the original post. glad the weather is getting nice again!

Cha, you have posed a tough question. Sharing V Day with someone you romantically love and who romantically loves you is the best! It is not the day for a casual date for several reasons. From my experience sharing time and companionship with loving friends is also wonderful! It is a tough day to be alone.

Count me in for the porch at LSL on the 14th, I enjoyed my last meet and greet there and hope to meet more of the group this coming Friday. I prefer being with friends over being with the wrong person.
