to power wash the lanai and birdcage. May be a silly question but just like you do certain things for maintenance in the spring or fall, perhaps there is an accepted time to power wash open air areas.

not silly, depends how often you're washing? Mine is based on Oh heavens, have they finished the construction?

I always co-ordinate the power washing with the pest control guy. I use Deans Pest Control. I give them a call and ask when they are scheduled to put down the pest barrier outside the house. Then I make the powerwashing appointment for a day or two before. No sense having Deans spray for pests and have it washed away by the power washer.
But, any time of year is fine to powerwash.
Sorry. I just re-read your post. If you are talking about just the lanai and birdcage, any time is fine.

I wash mine in late October or early November, after the heavy rains are done, but before holiday guests come.

I find that the outside areas, within the bird cage, need to be power washed a minimum of twice per year....I do ours 3 for sure....every 4 months. It has nothing to do with season, or who is coming or not.
All I know is we have more dust in our house here and more dust/dirt accumulation outside than any place we have ever lived. That is not a complaint, just reporting a fact as we experience it. I would gladly double any work I have to do here than put up with the kinds of weather where there are no palm trees.
If there are no palm trees then I know I am too far North.

The love bugs are here twice a year. Mid Spring. Then late fall. We coordinate with them leaving. If it's a bad season they make a mess.
