View Full Version : Has anyone shared their home with roomies in their "golden years"

With yet another snowstorm just beginning up here, with expectations of 12 to 18 inches by tomorrow a.m., sunny Florida is looking better and better, for sure.

This winter has been like the old fashioned winters we experienced while raising our family, with frequent snowfalls and lots of sub zero and single digit temperatures. Ice and snow are sliding off the roof constantly with huge thunder sounds.

On a sunnier note, thinking fondly back to the GOLDEN GIRLS sitcom my mom used to watch, I was wondering if anyone thinks that arrangement, of 4 single ladies sharing one home, would "work" in The Villages??? Or, has anyone attempted to co exist with others in TV to save on living expenses? The show's characters were all charming in their own diverse ways, and all seemed to resolve any problems that came up......but then again, it was a t.v. show and not real life.

Prior to the Golden Girls, there was an earlier show with two fellows living together above a store, in some city........and later the popular FRIENDS show, which many of our now adult kids copied after co existing together at universities, followed by their first apartments which always included "roomies". My generation never actually experienced that......but our kids' did. Maybe that's why I'm always fascinated by THE GOLDEN GIRLS when I see the re runs.

Has anyone ever done it? Shared a home with a bunch of friends, in later life? Thanks in advance for any interesting remembrances.
