I know where NOT to go. The guy at Markets of Marion ruined my very expensive chef's knives. (He's the one right at one of the entrances who sells mostly non culinary knives and runs a sharpening service.)
I am going to do a google search to see if anyone from here to Ocala sharpens knives professionally. If I find someone, I'll let you know. I could take your scissors along with my knives.

Unless you have almost ruined the scissors, try cutting a piece of emery paper. It ought to give them a nice edge.

I used to remember when the Sharpening Truck would come through the neighborhood, clanging his bells or had some sort of screeching noise, and lots of neighbors would come out with their knives to be sharpened. They would wrap them up in newspaper when done.I guess that's a lost art now. I thought maybe, wherever carpenters etc take their saws to be sharpened, would be a good place to have knives sharpened?

If you have Wusthof knives (the best) you should get their sharpener. Works like a charm.

When we moved from Ohio. I found 26 pairs of scissors in our home.
One pair of hair cutting scissors, Two good sewing scissors, and the rest hidden from me by house elves when I needed them to cut out coupons and other small tasks.
I would give you a pair or two, if I could remember where I put them.

Sharpening Services by Sharpy...Russ Kortendick, Village of Santo Domingo. I got his card from Ace Hardware at Southern Trace, 352-259-1378. He will sharpen most anything, and has the tools in his garage to do it.
He sharpened my mandoline (slicer) very well at a very reasonable price last week. I highly recommend him.
