I had read the WSJ by Jason Zweig who titles his column The Intelligent Investor.

The arguments in the financial market as to employing wealth managers vis a vis utilizing an Index is ongoing including Nobel winners. S&P 500 has beat Warren Buffet for the last few years but then most people are dealing in small amounts compared to Buffet but then we small investors can thank the Fed with its QE.

I do not use a wealth manager so I am not aware of what they charge or what they earn for their investors.

Insurance Companies almost always have some sort of sales contest going on to try to swing business their way. Insurance Agents may want to qualify for a trip to some exotic location for the agent and their spouse.

IMO, they just create conflicts of interest.

Hopefully the agent (who you selected) will help you choose the product that is best for you.

Incentives are very common in sales, it doesn't necessarily mean the agent will push that product on you. It will just make him consider that product as an option more than he may have.
