I remember those days. Back about 12+years ago, when I lived in Upstate NY, the mailman was delivering mail to our mail box, which was at the end of our driveway. We had a pond next to our house down a hill an on the side of our driveway. We had gotten an ice storm the night before. As the mail truck was delivering our mail, his truck slid off the driveway, down the hill and onto the frozen pond below. A tow truck eventually towed him off the ice but not before sand was applied for traction. Don't miss it.

Chicago's new name this winter has been changed to Chiberia.
For the winter of 2013-2014 Chicago has had it's third coldest winter and fourth snowiest winter since records have been kept. As I type this post, the temp. in Chicago is 12 degrees on March 2; Chicago's average high temp. on March 2 is supposed to be 41 degrees. At least the sun is out now, and the five inches of snow from last night has been removed from my sidewalk and driveway by the homeowner's association snow plowing service. Chicago had had 73 inches of snow since Dec. 1. Chicago's average snowfall in the winter is 37 inches, so we have had almost twice our normal snowfall.
I have been watching the Honda Classic on the Golf Channel the past few days just to see green grass and people not bundled up like Eskimos. At least I haven't fallen on my butt yet this winter.
Thank you for listening to my pity party.

What's that white stuff on the roads? Is that what makes the vehicles slide?

I can honestly say:
"I don't miss it".
Last snowstorm was 38 inches and up to the car windows. I love shoveling sunshine better. Today was in the low 80"s.
My friends in NY and CT have told me, it has been the most brutal winter they have ever seen, with temps really low, and no place to put the snow.
Hey I am a poet and don't know it, I won't quit my day job of being retired.
My sympathies for those who would like to be here but haven't made the move yet.

I feel badly for those affected by this very bad winter but when the spring thaw arrives it will be that more endearing to them

My son-in-law spun his car around to the ditch in Virginia's snow yesterday. If I never see snow again that will be too soon!
