With the closing of Belevedere library until about Oct 2014 it is very upsetting for people who cannot get to Pinnelas Library. Today, I went to Steeplechase to return a book to the Library on Wheels only to find that it never came ...I called the library and they said it had been called in for new tires and wouldn't be there today? My book will be overdue in 3 days and she said you just have to come to 466A library? This is an extreme inconvenience for people who cannot get to that part of town. When the library was closed prior to this for carpeting they had a mobile unit in the parking lot about two days a week? Why can't they do that again...anyone out there let me know what you think

I think your situation stinks and hope someone does something about it. I personally don't use the library anymore - have the luxury of downloading to my Kindle. But I know there are people that love a library and it should be made available to you.

There is way to much construction going on for there to a mobile unit in the parking lot, it would be very dangerous.
Hopefully if you explain your situation they will forgive any overdue charges.
While this is an inconvenience I think the new library will be worth it.

One terrible dark and evil thing in my past is that I was often late returning books.Since I have turned my life around, I volunteer to help with the overdue charges.

But getting to the one south of 466a is not hard. Just go down Buena Vista to 466A and turn right. It is in the pretty municipal building.

We could start a fund here on TOTV to pay your overdue fine.

If you'd like to pm me, I could stop by your place and return the library book for you. It wouldn't be any trouble as I am often at the library and could use another excuse to overeat at the chinese buffet.

You can renew your books on the phone or online

This begs the question: if you can get to the belvedere library, why not just go to the pinnelas library ?

15 miles one way from Springdale is my reason.

I think at the very least the library should forgive fines for books due while Belvedere is closed. Perhaps an Amnesty Day when it reopens.

You know, that sounds fair to me.

But isn't it great that that building is being all prettied up and renovated?

Since we are on libraries I do not think that this is hijacking.

I went to sign into my Sumter County Overdrive account and had a problem. I then tried to sign into my Sumter Library account and had a problem. After several screens, I finally got to the source of my problem. Apparently they rebuilt the web site and reset the passwords to the last four digits of the library number. And when I finally signed in all of my holds were gone.

The good news is that you can set up you personal userid.

SO for those that have not signed into your Sumter account or your Sumter Overdrive account lately, give it a try.

Maybe this is old stuff to some of you but it is new to me since I was able to sign in a few weeks ago.

Maybe I missed the memo.

Lady Lake accounts are still the same.

I wouldn't wait to find out if Belevedere is going to establish an amnesty day after they reopen. What if they don't? You could owe a boatload of $, or at least the cost of the book.

I'd gather up a bunch of errands to run down near the the library (grocery, clothing shopping at Anthony's, maybe go out to lunch, pharmacy, whatever) and go return the book!
