We've been here for 16 months now and have had 3 doctors just close their office and go elsewhere, no notice, Phone call , nothing.
I see posts here with the same complaint.
I've also had 2 wrong diagnosis from 2 others.

I had a CT scan at the Hospital , The radiologist noted I had prior surgery on my left lung, the problem is the surgery was on my right lung; I tried to correct this and got nothing but a run around. Still not corrected !!

What's wrong with this area ?? It looks like some doctors just come here for the money, they know everyone here is rich. Many get their schooling in other countries and come here for their residency; Hospitals love them because the low pay they can pay.
Some don't even speak English well enough and have a hard time communicating with patients.

There are bad doctors here and good doctors here. I do think Florida has more than it's share of marginal/transient doctors and that one must be careful in choosing. Try to choose one that has been in business here for a lengthy period of time and has established some roots.

Also, as far as the mis-read CT scan, call the risk management department at the hospital and explain the problem. That should get their attention, and rightfully, as any wrong medical information can potentially cause you harm.

This type of medical thread comes up frequently and finding new doctors is always a difficult business. I have had two primary care physicians who were and are both excellent, one - a lady left the area to work closer to her children's school, the other I still see. I was very happy with my female doctor and my present doctor is great. I have had to see various specialists in the area and other than one in Ocala, the rest have been excellent.

My suggestion to you is to ask people you trust who they are seeing. If you belong to a Club ask if they know of any doctors from your area who moved here. I never, ever, go to a new doctor without checking them out on Vitals or one of the other medical websites. I want to see where they trained, where they did their residency and if they have any problems in their background. Everything is readily available on the internet.

As to your problem with the "wrong lung" I think you should bring this to the attention of your doctor and let him and his staff take it from there. I had an Xray done at TV hospital and they lost it and wanted me to go in for another. My doctor asked me who had done the xray, etc. etc. and he had his nurse/assistant get on the phone with the hospital immediately, and the Xray miraculously was found and faxed to his office. There are so many people in and out of the hospital all the time that you have to be proactive in your medical care and stay on top of things until you are completely satisfied.

I will add that we do not seem to get many young doctors come to TV to practice, we seem to get established practitioners who, if they are from a big city environment, have probably got fed up with the hospital politics, or the traffic or the weather.

I hope you find a doctor you can trust and I'm sure if you ask enough people you will find what you are looking for.

I have good doctors, but checked them out first.
