Latin Mass

We are interested in meeting other Catholics who go to the Latin Mass. Any suggestions?
How is the Latin Mass at the Queen of Peace Parish?

Haven't assisted at the Holy Sacrifice of The Mass in Latin since we moved here in October. Please let me know how Queen of Peace is.

Growing up, all we knew was Mass in Latin. I liked it, it was tradition. Then when I reached 12 or 13, it changed to English, it took all the 'magic' away. I am not, and have never been a 'strong' catholic, but my parents were. So when it changed we were all little sad.
5 years ago, I rented a country cottage in Normandy, France, with a few girlfriends. Nice little village, the name seemed familiar, but for the life of me I can not remember it now.
Well, the little church in the village was the only one in France to continue to have the Latin Mass. I saw cars from all over Europe arrive in this tiny churchyard, in Normandy to hear a Latin Mass :)
I have to say, I was very pleased that the little guys had said 'no' to the Vatican, and are continuing to do so!!
I hope you find a church that has a Latin Mass :thumbup:

Sorry to say, not very well. My Latin is not what it used to be. I can still translate, if I hear something that has stuck :) me next door neighbours are keen gardeners, I am not, and she loves to tell me the name of all her plants and shrubs, using the Latin names :) mangled :)
I have to say I can not help myself at times by correcting her. Naughty I know, but what the hey ? :) :)

The Vatican does not say "no" anymore. First, Pope Blessed John Paul II issued an Indult that allowed the Triditine Mass, 1962 version, to be offered by any Priest with permission of the Ordinary, (that is the Bishop or Archbishop who is in charge of his diocese Archdiocese.
Pope Benedict XVI issued the Moto Profectum Summa Pontificum that gave every Priest to offer the Tradinsonal Latin Mass, 1962 Missal without permission. He called the TLM the Extrodinary Form.

Before his uprurt resignation the Pope was working on the Reform of the Reform. He wanted to use the TLM and use that as the basis of a New, New,... Mass. Adding the new Propers, etc. But his untimely resignation I am afraid ended this effort, along with his efforts to bring the SSPX back.

My Daddy was a Bronx altar boy in his youth and at 94, he could still recite the mass in Latin. Amazing how he never forgot it.

I think the Mass in the vernacular is better and not so off putting to other people who don't know Latin. I like that people who are not good with languages and those who struggle with learning can understand the beautiful prayers.


When I address HIM privately it is in English .

We have attended the Traditional Latin Mass at All Saints Roman Catholic Chapel located at the River Plaza, 11*** Highway 441 in Tavares for the past four years. This independent chapel offers the Holy Sacrifice of The Holy Mass and Sacraments as mandated by the Sacred Council of Trent and set forth in the Roman Missal of Pope St. Pius V unchanged and unchangeable. Sunday Mass times are 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. Ph. 407 391-8678 and 352 385-3880.

The Latin Mass is beautiful and reminds us of the mystery and otherness of God.

However, church services are not just for the choir and the already initiated, where they can meet in an exclusive clubhouse ruled by an inner circle of the "more devout".

Church services are for those who do not yet know God and His Son, to learn about Him and His incomparable power and authority over all things seen and unseen.

The service in a foreign language not seen in schools, nor in any print or broadcast media where people could learn/practice what is being said, is a barrier to those who have not been raised in the Catholic Church, and even to those who have been raised in it since the 60's.

There's a reason why Christ walked, dined and socialized "with sinners and tax collectors". We're to be among them, living out a life of thanks to Christ, not be sheltered away from them.

On a lighter note, The Villages is a GREAT place to be among sinners!!
