From everything I've been hearing, the Mt. Dora Arts and Crafts show is one of the biggest and best ones in the entire state of Florida. Do any of you know when this event is held? I love going to things like this and don't want to miss this one!

I went to the Arts and Crafts show in Lake Sumter a couple weeks ago and loved it! It was one of the nicest ones I have ever attended. Since I'm from Ohio and new to The Villages, I need to ask lots and lots of questions!

Thank you for sharing your info with me!

Mt. Dora's big art show was in February this year.
Much more fine art than crafts.
The show is huge- and draws large crowds. I frequent art fairs and draw much inspiration from them, but this one may be getting too big for me. The crowds and additional numbers of booths were a bit overwhelming this year, compared to the last two years I've attended.
Some artists I am familiar with, sadly have dropped away because it is now jam- packed with so much to buy that their individual sales are down.

You will find marked, designated parking lots (schools, for example offer their lots) then catch shuttle buses to and from the show. That's the best way to navigate.

Mt. Dora has a website- they hold other special events throughout the year.

We intend to explore and enjoy Mt. Dora further, in between events.

Mt. Dora has both- a huge Arts & Crafts show in October and then a Fine Arts show in February. The quality of the items at the Arts& Crafts show was not as good as the shows in the Villages. I find the Fine Arts show to be more to my liking with quality goods for sale.

The art show in February was probably one of the biggest and best I have ever been to. It was wonderful. I really like Mt. Dora and want to go back when I can just look around. I would imagine the arts and crafts show would attract a lot of vendors, plus I think they said something about antiques and collectibles. Sounds like a good day of hunting to me!!

Since you missed the Mt. Dora show, there is a craft show in the Villages this weekend - it is usually pretty good. It will be at the Laurel Manor and SeaBreeze rec centers on Saturday from 9-2.

Gainesville has a juried art show around the 2nd week in November. In my opinion, the art generally is better than that at Mt. Dora. Less crafty people too. Not as crowded either. Parking is a lot easier.

It is worth the trip to see at least once.
