You really only have 2 choices Embarq (DSL telephone) or Comcast (cable). Do a search on this subject plenty of prior discussion.

I understand there is wi fi service at some of the regional rec centers. If so, does this work well? :dontknow:

Ask handie -- seemed to work for him. I think there's a time limit of something like an hour, though. If you have a neighbor who has wifi and is unsecured, you can always piggy back them (just don't let them know -- it goes over like a ton of bricks).

I sat in luxury at Colony Cottage and latched on to their WIFI by entering my Village ID and pin number, worked wonderfull. The host said its on till the time he leaves at 10PM and maybe all night. You probably can get a usable signal sitting on the bench on the porch after hours.

As Handie said if you have a laptop with wifi you can go to any reg rec ctr and get on with golf ID and password, also library on 466 and try at home for the heck of it as red said.

Thanks for all the suggestions, Chat Friends! Mr. Travelstiles and I will be arriving at TV tomorrow afternoon to look at some homes, set up a PO Box, and arrange for a storage facility for our furniture until we buy.
I will definitely bring along my laptop so I can log on and keep in touch with my new TV friends - you guys are the best :#1:
Can a guest (renter) with a valid activity pass access the wi fi @ the rec centers?

Not certain about access at the rec centers but u should be able access without any ID's/passwords at the library just south of Southern Trace shopping center on Belvedere Blvd.

I'm almost positive you can. Last year when we were renting I used the computers at the Savannah Center -- not wifi, but I still needed to sign in with my id number. That should be the same id you'd use with wireless since it is really all the same network.

Last September, We visited TV for two weeks. With the visitors I.D. I was allowed to use the PCs in the Savannah center. My wife used our lap top in the lobby to pay our bills on-line.
Thanks to all for the updates.
We will be renting in February, so we are just now starting to address our concerns.

gemorc - Maybe your wife could pay my bills while she's at it?

What's the difference between Panera Bread or Starbucks, and the WiFi at the Savannah Center. Uncrypted WiFi signals are considered open lines, available for use by anyone. Many communities across the nation, offer this service to EVERYONE.
I don't know if you have ever visited TV, or not, but we paid $50.00 for 2 weeks. We received a card that granted access to all the amemities.
