Although most modern people choose to smoke or eat pot, when its active ingredients are transferred into an oil-based carrier, it can also be absorbed through the skin, which is in fact one big organ.
That's why I was so stoned at the Bette Midler Red Rocks concert!
I would not want to use the medical knowledge of 30 AD for the various problems of 2014. Personally, I do not like to take any medication of any kind unless I have to for some reason.

I smoked some maryjane around 5th grade and never felt much of a desire to try anything after that except where I had no choice because of the weed laced concert venues like those of BB King, Eric Clapton, Yes, Styx, Billy Joel, Bette Midler, Joe Jackson and perhaps some Lake Tahoe Shakespeare plays. Shakespeare must sound better when stoned to some.

It sounds like faith healing. They may not have known what caused what. They mixed a lot of ingredients together and had faith that it would do them good. Was it the ingredients, or was it their faith that healed them?
This might be similar to the placebo effect where non active ingredients actually cure people of various conditions.

He freely offers truth and life and instead people prefer a multitude of lies. I can't go along with the sentiment of this thread that it is humorous to say Jesus healed by marijuana.

Perhaps none intended...Those who crucified him accused him of healing by Satanic means and hung him for blasphemy. How ironic is that? He healed every single person who came to him or asked him, even brought back, I think 3 people from death. The fact is Jesus did not heal by marijuana, he healed by the merciful miraculous love of God.

I tried it once in some brownies on a guys only camping trip. I belonged to a club in Toledo that camped on an island in the winter, you had to walk across the ice to get to the camping site. It was 14 below the night we had selected to camp out. Somebody brought the brownies and I ate 3 of them, not knowing what was in them. I had on a flame orange coveralls that you hunt deer in, I got too close to the fire trying to stay warm. I burned out the seat of my overalls, from the belt down to my knees, right down to the blue jeans under it and never knew a thing until morning....

Does Marijuana Damage Brain Cells? (http://healthpsych.psy.vanderbilt.edu/2009/MarijuanaBrain.htm)
I did find this article on brain cells and maryjane interesting.
I have had enough of a struggle trying to keep my brain cells working well so why risk it if there is some effect? Still if someone inviting me to a No Doubt concert, I would no doubt be exposed to marijuana smoke. Or, at least, it is very probable that some No Doubt would be blowing around. Every other concert that attracts teens and twenty somethings I have gone to has had some marijuana fumes. Maybe, if I were into Christian music, but then again I should not assume Christian teens might also smoke pot, especially when away from their parents.

It all boils down to "how free are we"? In a free society, there are few "laws", and everyone knows and does what's "right" on their own. The individual determines their own fate. What they'll do or don't do.
I ask the people who say no to legalization, why? You don't trust your fellow citizens to make rational decisions? People aren't capable of self governance? People are incapable of self determination? Self control? Do you "not do" things because it's the law? Or because people just shouldn't do those things?
I personally would like to make my own decisions. I would like to choose what's "best" for me. Not be told what I can and can't have/do like I'm a child, or worse.

Hmmmn, in reading this post it sounds like you are most comfortable with a more libertarian philosophy if I can speculate a bit. That's ok but nothing is absolute.
In terms of not trusting one's fellow citizens and why the need for law ... you can ask that about all the laws on the books. Why do we need a Congress to pass truckloads of statutes each year ... some thousands of pages long that no one apparently reads anyway, and then changes it at a whim. There's no clear answer but not's the focus of this thread anyway.
But, yes there are way too many people in this country who do not have a clue about what's going on (note: NOT equating this with TOTVers who vote to legalize ! :) ) I'm talking more about the person on the street interviews done by Leno or others. Sometimes their stupidity is breathtaking. You kind of hope they're using birth control actually.

This country has practically made smoking cigarettes, cigars and pipes a crime eliminated smoking in public places and drastically increased health premium costs on smokers but some claim they have the "right" to smoke dope. Why is it people claim rights never discuss responsibilities.? Why is it legalization of marijuana is even a discussion in the main stream?
Does marijuana go well with red meat or white meat? Should one serve an ale or lager with a German menu? questions for those supports who argue alcohol and marijuana are the same argument.
Why would someone stoop to feigning a comparison between the Bible and this hedonistic practice?
I find it very disrespectful to people of faith to marginalize the bible in such a manner

I agree. I find it hard to understand why someone would hurt others with such callous words especially those readers, villagers, who do no harm at all and find comfort in their beliefs.
I think it insensitive at the least to say ". Religion is a "crutch" too. I'd be more in favor of banning that over marijuana."
I am not a good example of a religious person but I respect those that are. And at our age and with so much chance of deadly illness, we have to choose what our "crutch" will be and perhaps not look down on our peers if they choose religion. It hurts me and makes me angry.

Can I sit in a lawn chair, supervise the weeding, and bake the brownies?
Yes! But please put walnuts or pecans in the brownies.
That is, of course, if I get the job of turning on the water.

I vote for the pecans. Could you toast them first, please?

How free are we? We're not free when we have to pay for the mistakes that others make. If you can fix it so that people suffer the consequences of their own actions, and no one else suffers, then maybe we won't need so many laws. But I don't see any chance of that happening any time soon.
Basically, people want to live on the edge with a (taxpayer) safety net. So we all pay for the mistakes of others.

I agree with you, VPL. The "free to be me" concept does not work unless you're living alone on an island.
