View Full Version : What will you list on the survey?

This year's survey form has arrived. Throughout the year, people on this forum have talked about different things relating to either what TV has or doesn't have, or what they like to see built or brought to TV. Others have replied, "Put it on the survey."

Of course, I can remember very few of those things. Aside from indoor swimming pool and another dog park, what is on your wish list?

Or what would you like to see changed? Please be reasonable and don't turn this into a bashing of any one group.

I am going to lobby for tunnels in three places. Colony Plaza where you have to cross street from coming down Morse to turn into Plaza or cross to go under 466A.

Crossing Baily Trail after coming under Bunea Vista by Lake Miona Rec center. Someone will be seriously hurt or killed there if they don't change that. The guard lets cars through with carts trying to cross. Cars and carts get backed up blocking traffic flow. And in a cart you can't see around the corner enough to know when the guard opens the gate when headed from Baily Trail to cross over and go under Buena Vista. Very dangerous.

And under Old Camp where the Buena Vista Trail crosses near traffic circle. The top two are higher priority than this one.

rule to be changed for mandatory priority membership when playing Mens and Ladies Day on Championship courses....Isn't required for Execs, so why the Championships...If anything this will increase interest in those tournaments, which will also increase revenue for pro shops at the same time, along with the country club restaurants...It's a win win!

I'd like to see championship course men's day opened to non-priority members AFTER priority members. In the off seasion I don't think they fill all slots so why not.

Let us use the credits earned on men's day at the country club restaurants as well as in the pro shop and for golf!

We need north and south signs on the B Vista path, and i will also put that signs on the cart paths should have larger lettering and be lighted!
And, wishful thinking but i will put it, we need more commerce
for instance, a CVS on south side, a competing big grocery chain ( i like publix but they almost have a monopoly...) and MORE gasoline stations...
I also wonder if in the summertime ( when we have light till almost 9 pm), if the square music could be 6-10pm instead of 5-9.
These are some of my ideas.

Bumper mounted gate passes for Villagers so gates would automatically open for residents. Let non-Villagers roll down their windows for access. And better cameras to observe non-Villagers who might need to be identified when something bad happens.

The cost of adding tunnels under roads that are already there would be astronomical. Tunnels would have to be dug under roads without a cave in of the road above. It isn't going to happen.

Golf cart license plates or some way to identify them just in case there is a problem.better way to operate the gates for residents so we don't have to keep rolling our windows up and down to use the key card.

At the moment I have four issues I feel strongly about. In order of importance to me. 1. It is crazy that a golfer is charged a reservation point when a day is entirely rained out. No golfer should be charged a point when golfing on a particular day is unplayable. 2.For a long time I have not understood why men's day at TDS, HH and OB is limited to priority golfers. Presently, men's day is rotated between these three courses and I know for a fact that they seldom have more than a dozen men register for men's day at these courses.. At one time we had a waiting listat all three of these courses. It all fell apart when the Golf Division decided to do away with the shotgun start. I agree with GHracie, all golf carts shopuld have to display a identifying number. Perhaps this would help stop those persons who have no problem knocking down the gate arms. 4. The tieing together and any other method of saving seats on the squares should be banned. I suggest all chairs be held in storage area:bigbow::coolsmiley::clap2::MOJE_whot: and be issued on a one per person basis beginning one hour before the entertainment is scheduled to begin.

I would like to see shuttles from the parking lots (like they have at the hospital and Morse Bldg.) to the squares, theaters, etc., especially on market nights. Some people are only able to walk short distances. Looks like it would behoove the merchants to sponsor them.

When I win the lottery :1rotfl::1rotfl: I will invest in several carts myself and start a service. Just don't hold your breath until that happens.:):)

Bumper mounted gate passes for Villagers so gates automatically open for residents ... what a stellar idea! :clap2:

I've been told that Survey results are prioritized according to how many respond on a certain subject. (So if I suggest new furniture for my neighborhood pool, it's not happening!)

I think the suggestion about gate passes is an excellent one. It's a suggestion that would benefit each and every resident. I hope everyone writes it in.

I would like to see the Pelican course improved so it is more playable. It would be a beautiful course, but the tall grasses make a very short window of opportunity to get on the green unless you are a very good player. It seems they could cut into some of that without endangering any species. (I admit I am not a great golfer, but it is the most unenjoyable course in the Villages.)

I seem to always put the same things every year and will again this year:

1. Costco

2. Trader Joe's

3. Revamp the Daily Sun to a real newspaper with balanced news and editorial content.

I will also include the sunpass type opener for the gates. It would be so much better on rainy days, etc. And more efficient --- no more delays because of dropped gate openers.

They do, but when one of them blows through the gate, breaking it, the camera doesn't get a picture of the serial number. I think what's meant here is a visual i.d. system similar to a license plate.

You'll even like it less when you have to replace the regulator in that power window at the tune of $400 on average according to one of the auto dealers. They say they replace quite a few for customers from gated communitiesl.

I'm going to ask them to change the distance for the gate card access. If they make it a little further out, we wouldn't have to open our windows, just place the card on the glass. That can be done now on a few gates but would like them all to be able to do that. It will save a possible repair job from overuse.

Have someone, who works for The Villages, remove saved seat items. This would just be before the entertainment begins. If you need to save a seat or two, stay with them! Also, add this to the announcements so this problem slows down. It really does look rude.
I saw several chairs roped off, yes, really roped off, hours before a show this week. When we looked around, over 3/4 of the chairs where "saved", most without a human, an hour before the show began. This can be stopped. And should be stopped before someone gets hurt in an altercation about seating.

Personally, I do not see where wanting a specific retail store would be a survey response, since it is up the store/chain to see that TV is a good fit for them, rent wise as well as demographically. But I do like quite a few of the retailers mentioned by other posters here & on other threads.

On my survey I will incorporate the signs indicating north & south, as well as east & west; especially coming out of tunnels.

I will also include more dog parks and probably a pet waste disposal center (at least at the dog parks). There are options out there that burn pet waste by solar power, as well as pet waste stations that burn it to create energy to power a street light. Throwing it out in the regular trash eventually gets into ground water.

I also like the idea of better security cameras overall.

I'd also like another camera view of the three town squares.

Have not made up my mind on golf cart identification, as I don't see how it could include rental carts (which I hope make up most of the infractions).

I will also add new pool furniture at any neighborhood or regional/family pool needing it.

Have not made up my mind on golf cart identification, as I don't see how it could include rental carts (which I hope make up most of the infractions).

I will also add new pool furniture at any neighborhood or regional/family pool needing it.
They ask you on the survey what stores you would like to see come to TV, and they give you a list of about 20 choices. They obviously feel it's appropriate, but I wonder if they are able to do anything about it.

ID of rental carts could be registered at the cart rental shop, which could keep a running list.

Changes won't be done as a result here, changes are done by your District supervisor, and the AAC board. so get in touch with your District representative on the board.

This survey is all about selling homes, the developers top priority.
My opinion after 12 years here, take it, or leave it.

Additional access for golf carts to cross 27/442 preferably between the post office area and CVS. If that bridge is closed or something happens,a lot of us are up a creek.

I would also think that Home Depot, Sam's Club, Best Buy and all of the merchants that are not accessible by golf cart would be willing chip in some money to build a tunnel.

Excellent and I fully agree and forgot to put it on my survey. Didn't seem to be a question that triggered that thought. Also, extended neighborhood pool hours since a covered pool will never be enough. Extended hours would be good for me though.

It was clear to me when completing this survey they never really asked for anything of substance. other than the Developers section concerning health care which I skipped over, because I utilize the Munroe system, they only asked question about amenities. As I said when the misperception is that The Villages is a vacation destination and not a retirement community that is what you are going to get

Never did they ask the tough question the real questions, the important questions that deal with property taxes, fees, school taxes, etc . It was all fluff.

So who represents us or is the go between The Villages and the county we live in? Who speaks for us? Who challenges county budgets? In my view village residents are far removed from this aspect and hence the county commissioners school board, etc are free to do what they please

What does the developer or district government have to do with property taxes, fees, school taxes, etc . That would be a part of a county government survey.
We vote for county commissioners. If you have a problem with what they are doing, why not call them. Why would we need a "go between"? I really don't understand your rant.

Call me naïve, but when someone takes the trouble to put a survey together, I respond.
To not respond will assure that nothing will change, to respond at least offers the hope of change.

Bogie Shooter> That is my point. I went to O'Toole on an issue about four years ago and either she did not know or chose to side-step the issue but her response to me well .........................

county services affect us all and all things flow through the Developer and so whom do county supervisors serve?. I am holding back here but sometimes it is just best to do so because most people here could not care less

I can understand O'toole lack of understanding and response.

I will ask for any improvement of safety possible be added to golf cart / multiple- modal paths be made. Things like yellow lines, reflectors, lights or even warning signs regarding upcoming curves or split road ahead signs. Lights are really needed near brownwood. That area is very hard to maneuver at night since we are not all familiar with this new area yet. Please add these thoughts to your survey. Thanks!

This is true. Many things listed would be nice to have such as sticker on cars for easier access thru gates or signs that are easier to see, but that don't sell homes. If you are living up north and getting ready to retire and move to Florida I'm sure the fact that you have to open your car window to open a gate is not the decieding factor to moving here or somewhere else.
Large stores such as Costco will move here when the want to based on their research. Suggestions concerning safety would have a better chance of getting listened to.

Thanks for all your input on the survey. I agree with many points made, and here is my list so far: (will be adding to it)

Please have automated gate passes for residents that can be clipped to the rear view car mirror so that gates would open automatically for residents. Non-residents can roll down their windows for gate access. I would be willing to pay a one-time fee for this.

We need sidewalks in the Lady Lake section of The Villages on some of the main streets, particularly on Panama, in Rio Grande, where people walk a lot.

Golf cart ID numbers or some way to identify them. I see so many reckless cart drivers, who need to be warned, or ticketed, before they kill someone.

To create equity, please allow two resident IDs for single homeowners.
Please install staggered street signs. They need to be offset vertically. The cross street name is not visible until you go past it, slow to a crawl, turn your head, look back and try to see it. This is dangerous!
Please install lighted or at least iridescent/reflective street signs.

Please install more and better security cameras throughout.

We need Trader Joe's in or near The Villages.

No smoking in any public locations.

Also, for the survey:
The Town Squares' concrete surfaces are not safe. Especially Spanish Springs, since the renovation, it's worse than ever, it is rough, bumpy, and uneven, it looks like an accident in the making. There are so many grooves and uneven edges, and places to trip and fall! Please, it would help a lot to put a smooth surface over the concrete.

I was at Brownwood for Scooter last night (btw, did not see one dog or unattended toddler/kid) and was surprised to see that there are huge cracks in the dance floor pavement. And that's virtually a brand-new place.

for once we agree !! The villages health care portion was more of a sales ad than anything. Or how about the vccdd system of government we must live by ?? Why will we never be allowed to elect the board that sits on the vccdd. The villages residents have no children yet they pay more than 80% of the county school taxes.

A Tesla store at Sumter Landing.

I noticed that you had spent some time in NJ along the way. There is a Tesla store in the Short Hills Mall (at the moment - there is pending legislation that could kill it). My wife drove the roadster when it came out and loved it but the car just wouldn't work for us at that time. More recently we did go see the S and absolutely loved it. Since we have a Prius we have never suffered from "range anxiety." We were very upbeat when the Tesla sales person informed us that Tesla had a number of high speed charging stations that we could use for free to alleviate our apprehensions. I asked where some of them were. He quickly informed me that the two closest ones were in Connecticut and Delaware! This still won't work for us as many of our trips are still long and far. I hope you get your car if you really want it. You can take us for a drive anytime!

This is nothing new. Seniors with no children pay school taxes all over the country. Do you know of a place they don't?

Never! If they build it, we will come. We can find odd hours to go.

They have the best--the best!--graham crackers in the world. Their frozen grilled corn kernels are superb. They have a frozen thin crust pizza with ham and cheese on it that, cut up, is an amazing appetizer, and everybody asks you for the recipe. They have the brand of frozen chocolate-filled croissants that Williams-sonoma's uses, at a fraction of the price. They have boxes of frozen cooked rice that are very good. They have the bestest red pepper and tomato soup (their own brand, in a box ). At Christmas they have mint-flavored ground coffee. They have marcona almonds that put Fresh Markets' to shame. They have, they have, they have... sigh.

YES, when we lived in Cherokee County, GA, seniors over age 62 did not pay school taxes. However, I do believe that we seniors should pay school taxes because our future depends on the young.
