New to Amelia

Hello fellow Villagers. My wife and I rented in Jan-Mar, bought in mid-Jan, and moved into our pre-owned home in Amelia on March 1. We got a beautiful home in a for sale by owner. It was awesome that the seller could avoid the realtor fees and we were able to negotiate a good deal in part based on this. We are busy now furnishing the place which is both fun and scary. Dang, new furniture and electronics are expensive. We will be snowbirding for the foreseeable future between central Michigan and The Villages but plan to stay here until sometime in early to mid-May. I still work which I can do from home so I am not partaking of too many of the activities here. My wife is retired so she is having a very good time and is very active. I look forward to being a participant on this forum.

Moved down 5 years ago from FRANKENMUTH..thought the same thing..winter here...summer there...WRONG...after a couple months ..put the house up there for sale and never went back...BTW...I'm in Amelia too

Welcome to Amelia , One of the many centrally located Villages in our big community.

My wife and I moved here permanently in November 2012 . She is still working and I am trying to be a Model Retiree .

Thank you for all the warm welcomes. We are from Midland, MI which is about 30-45 minutes from Frankenmuth. We love the microbrewery in Frankenmuth, find the German style in Frankenmuth sort of fun, but hate the Zehnders chicken buffet when we get dragged there once in a while by relatives.

The summers in Michigan are incredibly nice so for now at least we have no intention of giving those up. Time will tell if we change our minds.

I will PM folks with any questions or ask here on ToTV but here is a starter question:

Does anyone have advice for running a rear speaker wire down the inside of an outside masonry wall? My understanding is that the wall is masonry, has furring strips about 1 inch thick on 16" centers with rigid PIR (Rmax) type insulation between the furring strips. The drywall is on top of all this. Is my understanding correct? I would like to drill a hole in the header in the attic and run a speaker wire about 2 ft down the wall directly inside the drywall. That is, between the drywall and the insulation. I suppose I could go buy a 3 ft long drill bit to make a path for the wire but is this really necessary? Does anyone have advice on how to get this speaker wire fished 2-3 ft down the inside of the drywall? This outside masonry wall is between the lanai and the house so there is sufficient space in the attic to work in.
